Modern life, is so complicated that it is hard to understand why there is so much delinquency. It is not always the fault of parents. We are a deeply religious family. We have taught our children and disciplined them, but one boy is totally unmanageable. He has a very high I Q. School is no effort for him We have had fine cooperation from his teachers and principal, but the schools are not equipped to handle the S , comes a time in many fine families (where parents are earnest-l- y striving to do everything they know to build fine characters in their children) when some outsider can do far more than the parents themselves can to help a child who has unexpectedly turned wayward. I hojje that this may happen to you. There is surely something that can be said or done by somaone that would change the course of this boys life. A friend, a church worker, a social worker, a stranger, somebody should be able to help this boy, by giving him friendship, time and personal attention. Let us hope for such a good angel to turn up A 4 J ineeded. - Cannot something be developed here that will .help children help themselves more? Our faith in God IS the only thing that gives us much hope. How can our sons add daughters who begin to give Ujs more than normal trouble be saved from becoming hardened in reform schools endprisons? Nq price" should be too great to pay to save qur children. By MARY MARKER Dear Mary Marker: Early in August a letter from C..V Hansen of Provo on the e edltorlal'-pag.hit mjr heart so deeply lj want to express my plea through your column. . He said in part: "There is no sadder sight than to see mere boys front good homes sent down the line to reformatories, or prison, for offenses committed, and come (n contact with hardened criminals, and endure brutalities so often imposed. Beatings and torture, starv- ing, dark solitary dungeons, have never redeemed a .single soul and never. will." t y X wr N ' Mrs. Law- rence 4. fisher was Miss Deanna Corrine Qualls before her marriage Thursday, W r: - - Vi J - - if (if H V) -' St 2 i -- F,, Mrs. Kenneth Paul FRIDAY RITES Spencer was Miss Luelma Broderick before her marriage Friday. , well-wishin- g M. Such boys need special guidance, activity and direction. Sought Help We have consulted churchmen and social workers They have helped some, but the boy still is not showing improvement. JRather, the situation grows worse. A reform school would never help this boy. I know his disposition Someone suggested Boys Town I understand that their methods accomplish wonders with boys. This person said, What the Mormon Church needs is a Boys Town here There is so much delinquency The Youth Bureau and Juvenile Court workers are doing a fine job, but more help is Tasty Tidbits These tidbits taste extra special along with tomato juice for a first course.
