At the start of the last depression. the company made advances of thousands of dollars to employes thrown out of work through forced curtailment of activities, without interest charges. Since the resumption of full time operations. the employes are loyally paying back these advances in small monthly installments. Through those same depression 'years. the company ' raised thousands of bushels of potatoes On company land and gave them free to jobless Meet, at the same time providing free garden plots and seed for the men to raise food for themselves.
