Show V1 STUDENT GOVERNMENT 4 ADMINISTRATION 1 ASWC crunches budget for RODNEY GLORE I 2015-201- 6 STAFF REPORTER Meetings were held over the past few weeks for the ASWC budget. The 2015-201- 6 first put together was budget by Westminsters old and new student board members in a closed meeting. This proposed budget contains all the spending for the coming year. This would include, but not be limited to, salaries for student government, the Student Activities Commissions (SAC) spending budget and the Inter-Clu- b Councils estimated spending. The student board this year added a 7.2 percent overall cut to - specifically referring to was the $800 for the Environmental Center and $500 given to Griffin Quest. Hansen said its not to take the money from them, but rather to have each group submit a request to the Senate giving a reason why they need the funding. This could open it up to potentially more funding being given to each group, Hansen said. On April 13, the Senate was presented with both proposed budgets, but the alternative budget was met with animosity from some. Chris Cunningham, the outgoing director of budget and accounting said, While its fine to make recommendations and ask questions, it disrespects the work that the student board put into their budget proposal to make changes. Bibek Neupane, arts and sciences senator, said, I would like to see transparency over all budgets, including SACs budget.
