Snowshoeing allows people to explore, enjoy the outdoors and elevate themselves above the city smog. Feb. 9 Silver Fork Wasatch Mountain Club Feb. 10 Snowshoeing is a sport that requires litde gear or money and offers lots of opportunities for adventure. Strap on a pair of snowshoes and begin walking or jogging along a trail, paving an unmarked path and relishing the beauty of winter. Its just a really great way to stay active in the winter. You dont need any special skills to be able to do it, said Brett Car-rol- l, a marketing major. Anybody can go out and snowshoe and you can make it as strenuous or relaxed as you want. If youve ever been hiking in the summer, you can snowshoe in the winter. The Outdoor Recreation Program at Westminster offers a variety of opportunities for students who wish to snow-sho- e. Snowshoe rentals are $4 per day, or $8 for the weekend. Carroll said that snowshoe rentals are the most popular among students in winter. The program also offers monthly group snowshoe exThe next snow-shcursions. trip will be on Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wasatch Mountains, according to Outdoor Rec. The registration deadline is Feb. 9 and the cost is $5. Students, faculty, alumni and guests are all welcome. There will also be a trip on March 10. Westminster also offers a full moon snowshoe trip each month.
