Aside from Zumba and indoor cycling, Pilates and yoga provide more body-toni- ng and flexibility exercises. Pilates is a routine that focuses on strengthening the bodys core. It emphasizes flexibility and creating long, lean muscles in the abdominals, hips, back, arms, and legs. The exercise also focuses on pelvic and spinal alignment. As with the other courses, individuals of every fitness level are encouraged to attend Pilates. Pilates is awesome because you get a full hour of core work, and you know you are sculpting your abs beyond the basic six pack, said Nalder. And note that group Pilates, classes, especially are guy friendly too, so boys should not think that they are coming to a dance class or a girly class. We can kick the body-conditioni- boys butts too! Yoga combines ng physical postures, mental meditation, and breathing techniques to strengthen the muscles and relieve stress. The technique has roots in Eastern medicine and emphasizes relaxation of the body. Many yoga courses are available, and no prior experience is required for most of them. All classes are recommended for individuals who are of exercising. Nalder recommends that, as with any capable HWAC course, potential students consult with a physician before starting up an intense exercise program. Most classes require little to no previous experience with the particular activity. The teachers are there to help students learn and get in shape, no matter the fitness level. I think it is important to emphasize that the greatest thing about group exercise is that it provides a safe, effective, and fun environment. Its a place where you can work out and push yourself harder than you would on your own, said Nalder. Group exercise classes not only provide physical exercise, but they also afford the opportunity for social interaction. The group exercise class- es are also a great way to meet new people and make friends.
