Tyson Olcott Corinda Santos i i Staff Reporters Roommate Showdown: Neat freak versus clutter bug, night owl versus early bird, who will come out on top? I Fighting with a roommate is hard, and a lot of the time, we see it being handled the wrong way. Tyson and I want to offer you a way to clear the air and make peace with your roommate. We think, more often than not, reasons such as tidiness and personalities are the i : i root of roommate disagreeand ments, and these issues-bi- g small-ar- e deal with in tough to I F I , I ! 1 i i shared space. It turned out, I really liked my roommate, but we were very different in a lot of ways. She Corindas Confessions was introverted and kept most My freshman year, I lived in of her emotions private. I was Carlson Hall. I will be straight up and say that I largely prefer to hang out with guys. I have great girl friends, but I prefer dudes. So, you can imagine my elation when I found out I was living in The Nunnery. An all loud, outspoken, opinionated and confrontational... no point in trying to cover that up. We worked as friends though; we balanced each others extremes. School was a different story. Our room was a different story. I am so organized it is probably unhealthy. I color code my classes, notes, planner and closet. I like to have a made bed and organized desk. She was different. She didnt mind having things just sitting on her desk, and her dirty clothes lying on the floor. In reality, she is probably normal, and I should look into therapy or some sort of pill. Who knows? Corinda Santos, junior She and I were merely dif- ferent. I couldnt blame her for being the way she was because it was what worked for her. I mean, I couldnt exactly get mad at her for wanting to have a life more than she wanted to lint-ro- ll her comforter. We went through ups, downs, Mark Feme, Cullen Green, messes and a brief ant-infestati- on. She and I are friends to this day. We went through a lot, but the only reason we made it was because we were not afraid to say something to each other. We had conversations about who was annoying whom and how much we did and didnt like the others dates in our room. We were upfront with each other. I hope this article can give you what she and I have: a friendship that can outlast an uncomfortable living environment. Tyson Tells it All i & A I ! I I 'l I f i S s i i i 1 ' i I My freshmen year, I lived in dwell with five other people. I loved my freshmen year. There is no part of it that I would take back, but looking back at it there are a few things I would have done differently. Living in the residence halls was entertaining. Like many other freshmen, this was my first time living on my own. I found that first semester was like the honeymoon stage in a relationship. |
