White StaffWriters in China, two sister-campperformances and a prestigious slot in the 2008 Culture Olympics await Westminsters Chamber Singers. The groups sights now, however, are set on $20,000 in additional fundraising to garner by mid-Jun- e. Twelve-day- s us "We'll bring our Chinese audience a real sense of this part of the world." Chris Quinn The colleges elite, touring choir are aggressively fundraising in an effort to gain funding for the voyage. To date, $90,000 has been raised. Over the next ten choir will perform locally on-aweeks, the as well as seek corporate sponsorships to gather the remaining amount necessary for travel to Beijing and Shanghai. Leven and Raich started meeting and learning from this years ASWC ident Chris Skinner and Vice President Jessica Felt even before they were sworn into their positions March 29. Rutter, debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York City. In 2006, the Chamber Singers traveled internationally for three-weeof performances spanning cathedrals of France and Spain. Leven said, ASWC is a liaison between the students and the college experience. ASWC includes the executive cabinet, the legislative branch and the judicial branch, which total about 50 The executive cabinet includes the president and vice president. It carries out the senates decisions and represents the students to the administration. The legislative branch includes senators who represent the academic programs. They approve new clubs and student legislation. They also address students needs. Leven said the executive branch cannot do anything without the senates approval. He said, Its a great system of checks and balances. The judicial branch serves as the student court. It interprets the ASWC Constitution and ensures that the actions of the senate and executive cabinet do not conflict with ASWC guiding documents, as stated on the ASWC Web site "There is room to improve."
