Western State College Classic ' ' '' Tournament V Friday - I - Thursday Show would like to talk about our mascot - Griff the Griffin. In the October 15 issue of The Forum, the ASWC executive cabinet assured that Griff would be present at many Westminster College functions - a promise that has not been held up. The mascot has certainly asserted itself as a quality addition to the stands at athletic events in recent weeks. So much so, in fact, that people question the mascots whereabouts when it is not present a sure sign that people have grown to appreciate the cheerleader. Shortly after the mascot made its initial appearance, I commented that it was missing something, missing a schtick. Missing something that distinguishes the mascot. Last week, I ran across something that could fit the bill if incorporated appropriately a partneYin crime. While looking through the 1987 yearbook (yes, a yearbook used to be a sta First, rve Westmonster, circa 1987. pie at Westminster College), I found that this is not the first time Westminster had a physical embodiment of the schools mascot. While I have not done any extensive research regarding the matter, the picture in the Estonian spoke volumes to me. The Westmonster. This awkward monstrosity looked like something that would definitely boost the morale of the fans in atten dance at Westminster College sporting events. Coupled with Griff, this duo would make an absolute killing. Perhaps they should combine. Although there seems to be enough trouble getting one person available. I cant imagine howr hard it would be to have two people available. If nothing else, I would submit The Westmonster as a suggested nickname for the Griffin. , - - Career Center presents Major Connections 1:30-- $ p.m. in Gore Auditorium KCPW Breakfast says tions pledge drive.
