Show Kevin Van Loon-Pre- Rich s. What motivates you to be an Executive Officer and what are your qualifications? What motivates me most to run for office is the idea of a new challenge. Seeking new challenges is my purpose for being here at Westminster in the first place, and now that I am coming close to completing that challenge I would like something new to start off my senior year, and that would be to take the office of the presidency. consider myself to have an intense and friendly personality. I am very work intensive but at the same time I know how to have a good time. I am both a hard worker and a hard playe.r I have always believed that there must be a balance between both those aspects in ones life. It is this ethic that I intend to bring to the office of the presidency once elected. I Describe two of your goals for next year and how you plan to accomplish them. My first and by far most important goal next year is to graduate with my degree in Political Science. My second most important goal for next year is to gain experiences that will help me to become a more productive person in the continuation of my life after graduation. I feel that by taking on the office of the presidency, it will be an excellent opportunity to help me obtain that very goal. Tofi Taafua-Vic- e are your qualifications? am motivated to be an Officer because of the following reasons. I enjoy being involved. I enjoy being in charge of activities and the planning of events. Above all, I am a people oriented person. I am also a firm believer of students' rights and opinions and would take any opportunity available to stand I up for these rights. Being an officer will allow me to do what I enjoy and at the same instance, represent my fellow peers in ensuring that their concerns are being attended. Qualifications: Current ASWC Secretary, Current Resident Advisor, Member of S.I.F.E, Asian American Club Treasurer, member of various SAC committees. Describe two of your goals for next year and how you plan to accomplish them. Plan and carry out activities that are diverse, entertaining and by the Student Population. 2: Goal Bring ASWC closer to its constituents in order for it to represent their needs, wants and concerns efficiently. Communication is very important in any organization or Student Government. With this in mind, I plan to utilize all the different forms of communication there are in order to get the students' input regarding any issues they are concerned with. Being informed of the students concerns, needs and wants are very important. Knowing what these needs, wants and concerns are will help me, if electee!, to choose and plan activities accordingly. It will also, in my belief, enable ASWC to represent its members well, if it knows what its members wants are. well-receiv- 1: s. What motivates you to be an Executive Officer and what are your qualifications? love Westminster College and I want to contribute to its progress. I have been involved in many different organizations on campus and have been very active in the Westminster Community. I am the ASWC Treasurer, I the Society, I am a for Habitat for leader student Humanity, I sing in the Chamber Choir, I play Intramural Basketball and I am the UIA Delegate Chair. My involvement and the dedication I've shown in all these organizations prove that I am qualified for this job. If elected ASWC President, I will become a member of the Utah Council of Student Body Presidents. Because Westminster is a private school the Board of Regents and Utah State Legislature overlook us when making decisions. I will be a strong voice in the UCSP and will make sure the Legislature and Regents remember us. I want to make sure that my voice with the Administration at Westminster and with State leaders is that of the collective students at Westminster. I want to instigate effective avenues of hearing, and understanding the students concerns. I am even open to students' suggestions as to the best ways of hearing their concerns. Pres. Devin What motivates you to be an Executive Officer and what Goal Nelson-Pre- Pope-Vic- e Pres. What motivates you to be an Executive Officer and what are your qualifications? have been going to Westminster College since I graduated from high school. Living on campus, I became involved in school activities and also became more interested in student government. I have become even more involved in school activities and have got the chance to meet a lot more great students. I have experienced I student life from all different perspectives and I think that my experiences will be valuable to the student government to help them fulfill the unmet wants and needs of the student body. Next year being my last, I would like to walk away from Westminster College and be able to say I did something to help students in the present and future. My qualifications, well, I am an Economics major and I think economics helps people to have rhetoric, and also helps open their minds to new ana different ideas. Economics is a tough field and I think it has prepared me for the tough job as ASWC Vice President. ed Describe two of your goals for next year and how you plan to accomplish them. One of my goals is to liven up school activities and to make students more enthusiastic about attending. Some activities need to be changed to more exciting events. One part is to increase the hype, by this I mean make it sound more exciting. If it seems more exciting, more people will want to go and if more people go it will be more fun. When I applied to Westminster the school was liberal, and I'm sure that things haven't changed, so the government needs to step away from juice and cookie events. As far as I'm concerned all students of Westminster College are adults. |
