Between the men's and women's basketball games on Saturday, November 5, the new Westminster Griffin was revealed. In a brief ceremony, of Student led by Development and Enrollment Planning, Phil Alletto, the new logo was revealed with a little humor and fanfare. The logo itself features a menacing griffin set against the backdrop of "Westminster College" spelled in block letters. In order to clear up some confusion over what exactly a ' griffin is, Alletto explained at the ceremony that the griffin Vice-Preside- nt has, "the body of a lion, and the head, wings, and front talons of an eagle." Furthermore, Alletto explained that griffins are viewed as "guardians and protectors of all that is good," and they "ruled the dominion of the earth and the sky." These images were definitely ones that the Westminster administration had in mind when the griffin was chosen to represent Westminster. After viewing the fruits of what was said to be a design process by Alletto, student reaction was largely positive. ASWC Senator Amelia Bickmore said, "It has exceeded my expectations."
