Show and arts Entertainment November 1, 1994 alien parasite creature invades the earth and makes hosts out of human beings. It attaches itself to the backs of ' humans and pierces their brains, giving the alien complete control over the thoughts, feelings and actions of its host. Since the movies top billing goes to Donald Sutherland, some of you may be wondering if this isnt actually Invasion of the Body Snatchers with a new marketing campaign. Well it isnt; but the similarities are An Andrew Nivens. Eric Thai portrays Sam Nivens, a top OSI agent and disenchanted son of Andrew. Sutherland gives a standard quirky and enjoyable performance, and Thai is quite earnest and believable in his role. Julie Warner and Will Patton also deliver worthy performances. Warner may be memorable from her role in Indian Summer, and Patton played the real bad-gu- y in No Way Out. The Puppet Masters benefits from the high-tec- h movie 90s. of the Its a making style d action movie with very good special effects. In fact, there are some scenes that will leave even the most stoic viewers feeling squeamish; and although much of the movie is predictable, there are indeed some plot twists you may not see coming. Its a little too much like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The alien behaves a little too much like The Borg, from Star Trek: and sometimes the hosts behave like zombies from Night of the Living Dead. The most glaring problem with Puppet Masters, unfor- The Next Generation, tunately, is the ending. The resolution is so disappointing I found myself wondering if the film was missing 10 or 15 minutes. However, if you go in for slimy aliens and suspense, you wont be disappointed. Their Voodoo Lounge Tour is expected to become the highest grossing rock tour in music history, and Rice Stadium will never host a more historical show. In Celebration, Jones and Schmidt have taken a young homeless orphan who is looking for his lost garden of beautiful peace and turns it into a night filled with an assortment of bizarre urban characters. The characters in the musical include Mr. Rich, the richest man in the world, a young homeless orphan, a beautiful fallen angel and revelers. Playing the lead roles arc Tes Eberhard (Potemkin), Jim Martin (Orphan), Kcely Baisden (Angel) and Steven R. Bcckstead (Mr. Rich). The Revelers arc Reba Anderson, Michael J. Alphonse, DeeLayna Carter, Cheyenne Correia, Jennifer Gyllenskog, Daisy Lee, Jerry Rapier, Michael Robinson, Amy Spafford, Stephanie L. Tobey, and Angie Urie. Christopher Quinn, professor is directing the music for Celebration with Thom Canning as choreographer and B.K. Henrie as technical director ' " designer. of music - Even though the band is nearing its physical end, it is still incredible to hear them play live. For years, bar bands across this great nation of ours have drunk-enl- y smashed and trashed Rolling' Stones staples while happy patrons dance crazily to the beat. It was nice, finally, to hear Satisfaction in its original form. The Stones are inarguably the greatest rock n roll band of the world. No band in the history of rock n roll will endure as the Stones have. The only band that could be put in the same realm might be The Beatles, who experienced a more euphoric appreci-- , ation than the Stones during their however, The Beat- les were unable to keep it together. And .why have the Stones endured? . I know, its only rock and roll but I like it, like it, yes I do, is the Stones lyric which might best describes the groups desire to stay together across four decades of the1 20th century. They like rock n roll and will probably die performing their music which endures like good Styrofoam.
