Ten Utahns calling themselves Just Cause cyclists plan to ride their bicycles 333 miles from SaltLakeCity toLakePowell. Just Cause cyclists hope to raise money for the people of Ouelessebougou in Mali, Africa. Cyclists ranging from ages 1 1 to 70 are beginning the Trek Wednesday, May 5, at This is the Place Monument. Westminster student Kelly Carroll, a junior in comunication and English, is the executive director of the Just Cause Trek and a Trek rider. It takes a lot of organization to put something like this together, and Carroll said. We all work some of us are attending college, so all the organization is done during our spare time. We have to organize the six support members, solicit sponsorships and donations, coordinate the school quarter drives, and still train every day. Its a tough schedule to keep, but more than worth the effort. In 1985, a group of seven Utahns traveled to Ouelessebougou and found a community of 35,000 people committed to turning the barren soil and dry fields into harvests of grain.
