Show Campus News More Changes In Store For Westminster's MBA Program by Fred Thaller Forum staff writer Westminsters MBA Program will see some changes next year, according to Professor Jerry Van Os, Director of the MBA Program. The major administrative change, effective in Fall semester 1992, is that students with less than three years work experience will be required to take the Graduate Management AdministrationTest (GMAT) before applying foradmission into the MBA Program. The students undergraduateGPA, work experience, and GMAT scores willbe taken into consideration when deciding whether heshe will be admitted into the program. Applicants with three years or more of work experience will not be required to take the GMAT. Their undergraduateGPA and work experience will be the primary requirements taken into consideration for acceptance to the program. Candidates for admission to the MBA Program areaccepted on the basisof proven academic ability, maturity, and other qualifications appropriate to higher level management responsibility. Individuals may enter the MBA Program at the beginning of Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters at the college. Students interested in entering the MBA Program must take the following steps: Pass the GMAT. Submit a personal resume or vita detailing professional and educational history, duties, and related activities. The second major change in the MBA Program is in the curriculum. Three new accounting classes will be added in Fall 1992. They are Governmental and NonTax Policy and Re profit Accounting, search, and Executive Finance and Con-trollersh- ip. Mandatory Drug Test Taken By 250 Students At Westminster said Mead. by Jennifer Thompson Forum staff writer Post-seconda-ry About 250 Westminster College students completed an alcohol and drug survey in the last two weeks. The survey, conducted by the Education Task Force in conjunction with Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah, was designed Post-seconda- ry populations that exist said Virginia Mead, executive committee coordinator for the Substance Abuse Prevention and Education Program at Westminster College. The survey requested personal and academic information and students perceptions of peers substance usage. It asked for drug-us- e patterns, consequences and situations of use. It also asked about students awareness of campus substance-use policies and services. information-gathering The survey was mailed to single parents, residence hall tenants and given to random classes in the nursing, aviation, psychology and sociology departments. I really appreciate the faculty who allowed me their class time for this survey, to identify high-ris- k on our campuses, ' Education Task The Force is one of the 14 task forces which make up the Salt Lake Valley Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition. The task forces are designed to target multiple sectors of the population. coalition operates on a $3 5 million, grant from the Office of Substance Abuse Prevention , which is a federal agency. The survey is completely confidential, and the compilation of information will be done on the University of Utah campus as a composite of all three campuses. Results of the survey will be used for developing programs in conjunction with the alcohol and drug education offices from The county-wid- e five-ye- ar each college. The Drug-fre- e Schools and Community Act requires each institution of higher education to complete a similar survey at least every two years. The ultimate goal of the task force is to reduce illegal substance use and alcohol and drug abuse. We are looking for volunteers to serve on the task force, said Mead.
