The reading was the second of three being sponsored by the Park City Foundation for the Arts and Humanities, funded in part by the Utah Arts Councils Literary Art Program. Cairns featured a portion of his newest poetry collection titled Translation of Babel." In this reading, a series of 13 poems was presented in the persona of a fictitious Brazilian poet, Raimundo Luz. The overall theme of the work is translation both in a literary and a theological sense. He translates the secular world into the sacred. Cairns is currently working on a collection of poems that incorporate the Wamock has a son and two daughters. The son and the eldest daughter both y graduated from Westminster and are pursuing careers in other parts of the country. The youngest daughter married a Westminster graduate and is a housewife with three young children. The emphasis is not for a faculty member here to publish or perish as it is at many other schools, said Warnock, who voice of the Romantic poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, as an alternative to the Modernist mode that pervades American literature today. He said his teaching career is a way of life he chooses as a result of a primary desire to write poetry. The thing that I put most of my energy into is the writing. I want to discover who I am and invoke what I am and experience it through literature. My primary concern is creating a body of literature and helping others to doa similar sort of project, Cairns said. Other published works of his include, Finding the Broken Man, and Theology of Doubt. The Park City Foundation for the Arts and Humanities will present David Lee for their final reading of the series. This will be held at the Park City Community Church on April 14 at 5 p.m. is offering students a special of $6 per case of Coke products. It was just like a small family, he said, there were only three hundred students at the school and the faculty and students were very close knit. Not only has the student population expanded in the ensuing years, but the campus has grown dramatically. Wamock said that Bamberger Hall, Shaw Center, Malouf Hall, Carleson Center and the Gore Center have all been added since his arrival. He also said that the expansion of the gym andalotoflandscapinghasbeen done since several papers on parasitology, his specialty. This is just one of the reasons why he has enjoyed his career at our school.
