The purpose of this special day Is to allow students to Interact with a renowned professional In different fields, such as music, art, science, law or business. The day was orglnally created through a grant by Rcva Deck Bosone. Bosone, born In American Fork, Utah, was the first woman elected as a judge In Utah. This year's Day of Inspiration will feature Judge Judith Mitchell Billings. Billings, one of the top females in the state Judicial system, was appointed In 1986 to the Utah Court of Appeals. She graduated from the University of Utah In 1977, receiving her Juris Doctorate Degree. While at law school she was associate editor of the Utah Law Review and president of the Womens Law Caucus. She Is also a member of the Order of the Coif, which Indicates that she graduated in the top 10 percent of her law school class. In 1982, Governor Scott Matheson appointed Billings to the Third District Court Bench where she served as a trial Judge until appointed to the new Utah Court of Appeals. Judge Billings was President of the Board or District Judges In 1985, and has been on numerous Bar committees, including serving as treasurer of the Salt Lake County Bar Association. She was a founding member of the University of Utah Law School Alumni Association and served on Its board of trustees. Billings is also an adjunct professor at the University of Utah law school. Billings will deliver a public lecture at 10 a.m. in the Gore auditorium, and all Westminster students are invited to attend. She will then Join Westminster's Single Parent Support Group for a luncheon. According to Lt. Detective Forbes of the Salt Lake County Shcrrifs Dept., a man in his early twenties robbed the Albertson's at 3900 South and 2300 East. Money was not w taken, but the man demanded specific narcotic drugs from the pharmacy. Forbes said that using descriptions of the man and his small pickup truck, Shcrrifs cars were able to sight him as he used Wasatch Blvd. and for his escape route. When he exited via Sugarhouse, Robbery Officer Darrel Ondrak was able to pursue the suspect. Forbes said the suspect stopped once, but then sped off on 1300 East where he finally put the truck into a 360 degree skid by hitting his brakes and finally stopping directly in front of Westminster. When the suspect Jumped from the truck with a Mac-1- 0 machine gun, Officer Ondrak fired his weapon into the truck and the suspect surrendered.
