By Dave Humphrey Westminsters varsity soccer team is headed for its first visit to the NAIA District 7 playoffs in Denver on Nov. 4 and Nov. 5. The team is getting well deserved credit from enthusiastic fans and opposing teams. As the home crowd watches the game, one individual remains unseen. That individual is Coach Chris Dorich. Dorich took over the head coaching position in 1983 and over the past five years he has built a highly competitve team that has a strong desire to win. Dorich credits the success of this years' team to each individual's high work ethic. "Most of the teams we play have a height and weight advantage, but with this teams hard work and desire to win we negate that." The team worked hard all summer and continued to do so through out the The Westminster Parsons undergo another rigorous practice. season with a weight lifting program and a running program implemented by Dorich. Senior, Shawn Ellingson said, "Coach Dorich worked us hard and now it's paying off." The hard work has payed off as Westminster posts six wins, five losses and two ties with three games left to play in the regular season. One more win a .500 winning Westminster guaruntees percentage for the year, a figure Dorich would be very pleased with. Dorich stated that only one of Westminster's five losses is to an NAIA team. That loss was a dramatic overtime game against Denver University, last years district champion. Many people wonder if this year's success will cany over until next season or if this year is Just a fluke. With 10 of this years 11 starters returning next year, another winning season is very possible. 359-785Overnight WPTyping-Ca- ll Letter quality printing.
