Additional credit hours given to the Forum class could result in more students taking the class. More students would mean greater content variety and a larger paper. Three credit hours is not just an incentive to take the Forum class, it would allow students to take fewer classes per semester giving them more time to concentrate on each course. Administrators need to be made aware of the time and effort required beyond the one-hoclass time to complete each issue. ur As Forum Editor Jennifer Killian has said, For the amount of work and time involved, ' one credit hour just doesnt cut it. . Even though the Forum is considered to be primarily a learning experience for Westminster students, staff members are striving constantly toward professional journalism. Each reporter takes his or her story assignment seriously by researching the background information, interviewing the various sources, then writing and sometimes rewriting the articles. In addition to the stories assigned by the editor, each reporter is responsible for developing stores on a beat, an assigned area of the local community and campus which may provide issues of news interest to Forum readers.
