IT A C rainey the genial foreman of construction st w work ork we were shown the i plans for the beautiful depot to be erected by the oregon short line in this city it is something that the people here have been clamoring for for a long time and a subject on which this paper has seldom been silent for any length of time we have contended and very consistently too that brigham city was entitled to a better passenger depot m than we had this not only tor for the sake hake of those who travel back and forth but in justice to the city that people entering might be favorably impressed with the first thing that met their eyes eye upon alighting from the train front from the plans above mentioned rd r d ta alawi irwi ever hoped r afo ia yu ily ze d la mu aidt ing is already under way it will be a feet occupying the site of the present depot but extending a considerable distance north it la Is to be fitted up with modern improvements such as electric lights steam heat water from the cites water mains new modern seats and well equipped with sanitary lavatories and closets the construction is designed to give the building the neatest and most imposing appearance pe arance possible the walls will be of buff pressed brick with cement facings all laid in ted red mortar so that the markings will be well defined and pleasing to 10 the eye the main entrance will be directly in line with tile the south sidewalk on forest street and the walk from the east line of the companas comp anys right of way to the floor door will be nicely laid out and guarded on either cither side with suitable rawlings railings rat rai lings the entrance will be fitted zip up with heavy swinging doors over which will be a halt half circle of plate glass arched over with cement stone facings this will be the entrance to the hall or lobby on the right of the hall will be the ladles ladies waiting room and on the left the gent lemene waiting room on the west side of the building just opposite the entrance will be located the agents telegraph and ticket offices opening front from the agents office to the kouth k will be a little room which also has a door leading onto the platform oh the west to lie be abed by trainmen in rec receding ehing anti and making their reports the ticket window will lie be in the cast side of the agents office opening into the hall between the two walling waiting rooms and directly above it will he be located a large clock everything thin Is arranged so that neither the public not bor tile the trainmen will have access to the agents s office and the tra velling public will not be inconvenienced by having to wait await its turn with the trainmen in transacting business with the agents office in the itie south end of the building will lie be etc in tile the attic a good solid floor door will be iain laid with a ladder leading up to provide for storage room in cases of necessity the foundation will be built of concrete for which the foreman has on hand 80 tons of cement the platform will be of cement with gravel extensions at each end the old depot building has been moved bodily to the north side of the road and will bater later be placed in position near the wool and used as a freight warehouse I 1 this new depot will be by far tile the nicest thing of its kind ou on the idaho division outside of the union depot at ogden it is needless to say that it will be appreciated by the travelling tra velling public in this part of the state since the the completion of the malad valley branch and the establishment of the new nev schedule on the southern pacific brigham station his has become quite an important point and it is fitting that the building and yards should be in condition to compare with the general dignity of the place in addition to the buildings the grounds will be laid out in an artistic manner afifi planted to lawns and hiees for instance between forest street and knudson bros warehouse extending as far east as the section house ti ouse will be plotted and put into lawns shrubbery and flowers As win wilif also the little piece lying between the sidewalk and the he center of forest street to the east
