The useyeraLageRciaawho&i. agreement Is necessary for allocation of these funds to highway projects were agreed on the several projects but withheld any formal ratification until the president should sign the bill. The final legislative steps were taken late Friday when Senator Tasker LrOddie called up Tor consideration the bill bearing the name of Congressman Don B. Colton. The Senate had previously passed a similar bill but it had been agreed Colton bill should be the one to be enacted. There is essentially no difference between the two measures. The Oddfe bill would have made the first annual increase of $5,000,000 for forest roads available immediately and the Colton bill makes this increase available July 1, 1930. Hirce Year Fight. Enactment of this bill into law to a close one of tho two bringa major highway acta sponsored for tho last throo year by tho Western Association of 8tato Highway Officials over which Chairman Henry H. Blood of the UUh road commission presides as president. The movement to gain 'increased forest road funds was first launched in 1927 at the Denver meeting of tho western organization and the association has been aiding western congressional delegations in organizing support for the last three years. This act will prove beneficial to the eleven western states which are prepared immediately to take up the Increased funds made available. Mr. Blood said. Utah Is to get about $185,000 above the old appropriation of $165,000 for each of tho three years starting 1. 1930. Preference mu be given to those roads located on tHe principal highway systems. Tlireo Major lTojocts. In addition to the major projects heretofore Included in the forest toad program three major projects will now be initiated. The largest is allocation of about $100,000 for a project in Logan canyon on which Cache county will be askeo to put up about $59,000. About $45,000 addttlona! of the Increased funds will be spent In the Strawberry valley increasing the depth of the gravel capping from threo to six inches. Some $25,000 of the balance will be used to enlarge the $120,000 project already budgeted in the Daniel' canyon section. The increase on the latter project will make it possible to extend the road closer to Heber. The balance remaining of the new funds will be used for adminand maintenance istration t 1 la p m 3.35 p m. Talk. Ballads and light classical 2 f, Spkr ,nl grt.t .Portu-guea- musical soloctlona C.
