Faye Emerson monogram ANSWER Arrangements PRICE FLORAL SHOP 60 West Main V Price V CBS to present 'Howard the Amazing Mr. Hughes Howard the Amazing Mr. Hughes," a major four-hospecial to be presented in two parts, tracing the career of Howard Hughes, one of the century's most mysterious and evasive industrial tycoons, will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network in early 1977, it was announced today by B. Donald Grant, Vice President, Programs, for the Network. Starring Tommy Lee Jones as billionaire Howard Hughes, the special is based on the book Howard the Amazing Mr. Hughes" by Noah Dietrich, longtime associate of the reclusive Hughes, and Bob Thomas, veteran Hollywood correspondent for the Associated Press and noted biographer of such prominent motion picture figures as Walt Disney and Harry Coh. William A. Graham will direct from a script by John Gay, and production will start November 18. The special presentation follows Hughes from his youth when he succeeded his father as head of the Hughes Tool Co. and eventually built one of America's great fortunes. The ur story explores his remarkable industiral ac- complishments, his flying feats, his interest in Hollywood and his romances all coupled with his unique way of conducting business. Jones, the compelling young star of "Jackson County Jail," started acting in New York, where he appeared on Broadway in Ulysses in Nighttown" with Zero Mostel, "A Patriot for Me, and "Four on a Garden," and off Broadway g, in "Fortune and Mens Eyes. His television credits include guest appearances on "Baretta and Charlies Angels," and feature he stars in the Rolling Thunder." The executive producer is Roger Glmbel for EMI Television Programs, Inc. Gimbel was executive producer cf television films as Queen of the such The Glass Stardust Ballroom," "A War of Children, House, and the upcoming dramatic special, "Minstrel Man," all on the Network. He was also vice president in charge of production for Tomorrow Entertainment, Inc., for The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman." The producer is Herbert Hirschman, who produced the "GE Theater" specials Things in Their Season and "Miles to Go Before I Sleep," and was executive producer of "Larry." John Gay did the screenplay for the recent feature film, A Matter of Time, won Academy and Writers Guild nominations for "Separate Tables, and has written many other screenplays, including No Way to Treat a Lady,'' "Run Silent, Run Deep," and "Things in Their Season."
