Show 1975 Thursday, Aug. 28, Sun Advocate, Price, Utah 5 Hanksville Art Chaffin received word that his brother, George Henry Chaffin, 96, has passed away in an Orem Nursing home following a lengthy illness. George was born Sept. 1, 1878 in Minersville, Beaver County, to George Edwin and Elinor Jean Wade Chaffin. He married Annie Young Banks, Feb. 24, 1914 He was the owner of a lime quarry, a farmer, and cattle rancher most of his life. Survivors besides his brother, Arthur, are daughter, Mrs. Berniece Sehoell, stepdaughter, Mrs. Louise Bee Buke, Provo, ten grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, eight great great - grandchildren. - A tragic accident occurred at Lake Powell Sunday when a man was being towed behind a speed boat in an inner tube in the area near the Hite Marina. While making a turn the tube rider was thrown into the rear of a house boat. Ted Ekker and Fred Hearing were among the lucky ten persons to draw out for buffalo permits in the State of Utah. There were over 450 applicants and the other eight permit holders are from the Northern part of the State. Charles Kimberly from Blanding is residing with Mrs. Edna Ekker Robison while employed here with MRC. They also dig underground holes and when he runs his tractor over these homes it falls in hub deep. His horses have fallen into these holes causing injuries. He stated there was a $10,000.00 fine to eradicate prairie dogs but he feels hes the ENDANGERED SPECIE as the dogs have taken over his ranch. Word was received ere of the passing of Norville Wolverton, 57, following a lengthy illness. He was born April 6, 1918 in Green River and married Marie Adams of Palisade. They have four children, Sharon Kohis, La Grande, Oregon; Rita Foy, Moab; Norville, Huachuca City, Arizona, and Dean Wolverton, Carlin, Nevada. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Lolia Foy Wolverton, Palisade; two step - daughters, Mrs. Marjorie McCall, and Mrs. of Gredia Lombardi Calfornia and Colorado; four sisters, Mrs. Lyndon Granat, Mrs. Lois Guffy and Mrs. Arnold Edling all of the Mesa County area and Mrs. Winfred Lowes, Henderson, Nevada and a brother, Ted Wolverton, Sierra Vista, Arizona. A.C. Ekker and boatman from Green River will be in charge. The Hanksvilles Girls Softball team will play their last game in county competition Wednesday, August 6 at Lyman. They have won the trophy the past two years in this competition sponsored by the MIA. The three children of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Blackburn have been visiting their grandparents, the Riter Ekkers, this past week from their home in Salt Lake. Mrs. Ethel Jackson is vacationing in Sigard this week tending the children of Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson while mama and dad are touring northern Utah with plans to visit the Logan and Salt Lake Temples. Sharon, Conn, stopped in Mrs. Lily White Parker, town Tuesday for some branch water and headed Kennewick,, Washington out for the Arizona Strip, celebrated her 101st birthKanab and will wind up day last week.
