Sunday-Monda' y Strong Construction Company of Springville has been awarded the contract to construct the Millsite Reservoir west of Ferron at a cost of $3,333,333 00. This announcement was made by Clyde E. Conover, contracting officer for the Ferron Canal and Reservoir Company. He said the Strong bid was lowest of eight received. Mr. Conover said this earth fill dam, approximately 3 miles west cf Ferron City, will have a capacity of 18,000 acre feet which will provide flood protection, irrigation water and a conservation pool for fish. A unique feature of this dam will be a slurry trench along the front toe of the fill. The trench will be backfilled with cement, sand and gravel to form a seepage cutoff wall. The dam, approximately 4000 feet long, will contain cubic yards of zoned earth fill. Outlet and spillway facilities will have 3700 cubic yards of concrete.
