Recruiting Procedure The recruiting of Job Corpsmen will depend largely on referrals by interested individuals and agencies. U. S. Employment Service offices, churches, schools, settlement houses, public and private welfare agencies, boys clubs, selective service boards and others will assist in the selection $.?' process. Congress has authorized that Corpsmen may spend a maximum of two years in the Job Corps. However, the average corpsman will spend about a year in the corps. Corps members will be paid a of $50 for terminal allowance every month they have spent in the corps. Up to $25 of this amount may be alloted to a de- pendent, and the government will match such allotments with an equal amount. The trainee will receive daily pocket money ($30 per month), room, board and his clothing.
