The trophy began its rounds in 1952 with the Pirates having their names inscribed first and with the understanding that the first school to have its name inscribed on the trophy three times would gain permanent possession. Since the first year East Carbon and Helper have each won it twice so now The Price junior high school Pirates wound up their football season with the county championship tucked neatly away, the first time since 1952. The Pirates went through their season undefeated in league play. By becoming the 1957 champs, Price still has a chance to gain permanent possession of The Sun- - the three junior high schools are tied up for possession. Next years champion will take permanent possession. Comparable figures for the 1956 season a year ago list 11,992 hunters checking out 16,081 deer through this station. Department of fish and game spokesmen said the slight decrease noted in hunter success must be attributed mainly to the extremely adverse weather conditions attending the seasons in the south half of the state where a majority the pursue their deer. WINTER TIRES Four Carbon Youths Enlist with Navy N Ray Russell Brown and James Horvath of Kenilworth, Max Rojas of Spring Cartyon, and Jaok Arthur Heath of Sunnyside enlisted in the U.S. Navy last tveek, according to Albert F. Simmons of the Helper recruiting station. The above named young sailors will spend nine weeks undergoing basic training at the Naval Training Station, San Diego, California. Upon completion of their basic training they will be granted 14 days leave. Upon completion of their leave they will be assigned to technical training schools or sea duty. The Helper recruiting station also reports that Kenneth EM3ESS), of Price is at present enjoying leave at home. He is assigned to the submarine U. S. S. Carbonero (SS 337), which is stationed at Pearl Harbor, T.H., and assigned to the Guided Missile Unit of the Pacific Fleet as a guidance submarine guiding missiles fired by other submarines. Young Wilkerson will return to Pearl Harbor about November 17 to resume his duties as an electrician aboard his ship. The Navy Department will grant Christmas leave of 14 days to any young man enlisting in the Navy who has completed four weeks or more of his basic training by that time. Enlistments are now open, and a high school graduate can have a technical school in the field of his choice in which he can qualify. .
