The program consisted of musical numbers. Frank Van Cott, music director at the East Carbon junior high, directed the program which included a vocal duct by Sharron Preston and Ihylis Anderson, piano duet by Mr. Van Cott and Pat Hixon and three numbers by the girls chorus. In addition, the junior high school band played several numbers under the direction of Mr. Van Cott. This program indicated the fi.te organization in music which has been developed at the school in the period of one school term. . Mr. Hanson also expressed appreciation for the response of the parents to the book campaign which is providing a pood addition to the library being cAablished in the elementary school section. Special guests at the meeting wore Mrs. Thomas Ramage and Mrs. James Hansen, officers of the Carbon district organization. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stultz spent the past week at the home of their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Ormc at Salt Lake City. Wednesday, Mrs. Orme was hostess at a delightful affair in the nature of a luncheon at the ZCMI tea room. The guests Included relatives and friends of Mrs. Orme and Mrs. Stultz and an afternoon of visiting and reminiscing was enjoyed. Guests were Mrs. Bracken Lee, Mrs. Gerald E. Anderson of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Sarah Simmons, Wellington, Mrs. Robert E. Davis, recent newcomer from Spokane, Washington, and Mrs. Elmer Stultz of Dragerton. They arrived In time for the arrival of a new grandchild, a daughter bom to the Frank Worthons on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Worthen are former residents of Dragerton and are now living at Panguitch. The Pinochle Club met recently at the home of Mrs. Della Ward. Prizes were won by Rae Coleman, Dee Oveson and Adeline Fowler. Light refreshments were served and an enjoyable evening was spent by the club members. The Affairs of Hajji Baba week. Walter Kelley and Lorenzo Cook went to Helper to witness the football game between the Carbon and county junior high the Helper junior high Rams. The game ended in a 6-- tie. The Rains precinct was the only one in Carbon county to go all out 100 per cent against the legislation to abolish Carbon College. Mr. and Mrs. Freman Martinez of Clearfield are parents of a girl recently bom. Mrs. Martinez is the former Emma Gutierrez, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Gutierrez, Sr. T. R. Martinez visited Mr. and Mrs. Albert Martinez Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Max Anderson of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Mr. and Mrs. E. IlemmilwTight were visitors in Salt Lake City Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Toth and Barbara of Price were dinner guests at the Dalton home Thursall-sta- rs 6" of Mrs. A. W, Anderson Wednesday evening for their regular monthly meeting. Matters of home business pertaining to the organization were discussed, with President Maude Warren conducting the meeting. Other members present were Ruth Oviatt, Verda Marx, Ella Wells, Stella Hastings, Gertrude Edwards and Dorothy Brown of Price and Beulah Draper and Arvilla Johnson of Wellington. The Rotarians were guests of the Cultura Club at their meeting held Thursday night at the East Carbon junior high school. Mrs. Frank Lauriski was the presiding officer. Mayor William Welsh of Price was the guest speaker. He discussed possibilities of future economfc development in eastern Utah. Fay Thomas gave a humorous reading. Spiced cider and home-mad- e spud-nut- s were served to the group by the hostesses, Mrs. Virginia Holman, Mrs. Cumorah Peterson, Mrs. Bus Cline, Mrs. Beth Allred and Miss Myrtle Dav- girl to Girls State at Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Harvey are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby daughter in the family, the first addition in 12 years. Mr. and Mrs. Bus Cline left this week end for a two weeks vacation to be spent in Nebraska visiting Mr. Clines family there. They plan to bring Mr. Clines father back with them to enjoy a prolonged visit with the Clines. Bishop Nordell Allred and his counselors, Ellis Peacock and Frank Worthen, supervised a banquet for the Dragerton LDS ward Saturday. A turkey dinner was served to ward members and friends at the East Carbon school lunch room. The meal was cooked and served by the ward Relief Society presidency and members of that organization. Three hun- is. Members of Beta Sigma Phi met Thursday evening at the home of Mary. Alice Collins. Nancy Bowl-b- y was in charge of the program and the discussion was on "Poetry." Merriment was created by the auctioning of hats wrapped and donated by members. The fund from the auction will be designated to the club treasury. Annette Taylor of San Jose, California, spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. King. Miss Taylor is a senior at Brigham Young University at Provo. She is a niece of the Kings. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith and family spent the week end in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Peacock spent Sunday at Mt. Pleasant visiting his mother, Mrs. James Peacock, who is recovering in the hospital there. Mrs. Peacock suffered a severe heart attack aggravated by pneumonia last week. At present there Is noted improvement in dred and eighty-nin- e Mower and Mary Ellen Bliss. The proceeds from the banquet are to be used for the building fund for the new LDS chapel which is now under construction. The following people from Drag erton attended sessions in the Manti temple Saturday: Mr. and Mrs. Warren Burnham, Mr. and Mrs. Cleland Beers, Mrs. Louisa Cox, Mrs. Bertha Petty, Mrs. Marcella Gunderson and Mr. and Mrs, A. W. Andersoa brated her birthday Sunday. Mrs. Mel Thomas of Carbonvllle was a visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kranjc Friday. Mrs. Golden Day was a hostess at a birthday party in her honor Saturday. A luncheon was served and bingo played. Guests included Mrs. Rowena Day, Mrs. Flo Christensen, Mrs. Jack Day, Mrs. Alta Cook, Mrs. LaVon Gull and Mrs. Frank Basso. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Pat Gutierrez Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Valdez of Price. Mrs. Fredia Orlandi was a guest at the home of Mrs. Tony Frugni at Price Wednesday afternoon. After dinner they visited friends in Price. Mr. and Mrs. Candy Montoya and children were week end visitors at the home of' Matilda Gutierrez at Helper. Vicki, Rita and Cathy Orlandi were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tex Thom while their parents motored to Ogden with their son, Ricky, who was returned to his school after a week ' day. Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Cook vis ited the Earl Hardys of RoyaJ Wednesday afternoon. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. H Dalton Friday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hanley and sons of Wellington. Mrs. Jeffie Dalton was hostess to the WMU women of the First Baptist church Tuesday evening. Nine women were present.
