Show Page Twelve THE Thursday, March 18, 1954 SUN-ADVOCA- Hiawatha Boy Scouts Host to Honor Court The Hiawatha Boy Scout Troop No. 288, under the direction of Scoutmaster Herbert Marshall, was host to a district Court of Honor for the Carbon district Sun day evening, March 14, at the LDS chapel in Hiawatha. The following district officers and scoutmaster were present: Field Executive Alvin Gaudio, Omar Bunnell, district advancement chairman; Elias Degn, district committeeman and Scoutmaster Robert Parker, Eugene Sulpizio, Herbert Marshall and several troop committeemen from Hiawatha. A very enjoyable program was given by the Hiawatha scout troop imd many awards were presented. The program, with Scoutmaster Herbert Marshall conducting, was as follows: Terry Gagon, pianist, and Van J. Gardner, singing leader; presentation of colors by the color guards, Scouts Gene Moffitt, Gary Draper and' Roger Olsen; The Star song by congregation, Spangled Banner; harmonics solos, 'Roger Palmer; stunt Barber Shop Nonsense by the Bear Patrol; redtatioft of scout laws, Blain Day; tenderfoot knots were demonstrated by Stanley Marshall; accordion solos by Gary Draper; stunt, The Shadow," by the Flaming Arrow patrol, and piano solo by Terry Gagon. of Presentation Tenderfoot awards by Scoutmasters Degn and Marshall were given to seven new scouts and their mothers: Douglas Williams, Blain Day, Robert Scott, Rex Greenland, Robert J. Scott, Phillip Jones and Stanley Marshall. Chairman Bunnell was in charge of the merit badge presentations to four Helper scouts, Scoutmaster Claude Anderson presented awards to five of the Second ward scouts and Committeemen Gardner and William G. Riches presented merit badges to ten Hiawatha scouts and Mr. Marshall. Executive Gaudio called upon Mr. Degn to present the Silver Palm award to Scott Deffendol of Price and then Mr. Gaudio presented Star Badge awards to Scouts Kent Anderson, Gary Draper, Billy Thomas, Terry Gagon and Brent MarchettJ. Life badge awards were presented to Scout Wayne Reid and his mother and to Scoutmaster Marshall and his wife. In addition, Mr. Marshall received an appreciation plaque from the Utah National Parks Council in recognition for his long continuous service to scouting.
