Show THE Page Eight Carbon Thirty-si- x Debators Attend Weber Speech Meet Thirty-si- x Carhop high school debators participated in the annual Class A high school speech tournament held at Weber College in Ogden last Friday and Saturday. The team was accompanied by George Morgan, coach. Mr. Morgan reported that the Carbon debators did fairly well considering the experience. Carol Prince and Barbara Miller advanced Into the final round before being defeated after three rounds of debate and Geraldine Burton scored fifth in the finals In oratory. The theme of the ball was the "Coral Sea. The hall was beautifully decorated in blue and different shades of green. e atmosTo complete the phere, a large pink shell was at one end of the hall and a large painting of a sea horse and mermaid at the other end. Ball Held etball team participated in the Helper Kiwanis basketball tournament at Helper last Tuesday and Wednesday. The Blackhawks lost both games they played by small margins. Mrs. Frandsen will enter the LDS hospital where she will undergo treatment and a possible operation for a leg injury she sustained a year ago. Mrs. Carma Allred entertained friends at a party Thursday evening. To add fun to the evening each guest was dressed in a comical costume. The floor show was under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Van Gardner assisted by Miss Elva Ree Woodruff and Larry Anderson. Five ballroom dances were demonstrated. Sweet Sue a Fox Trot by the Junior M Men and Gleaners. This same group also danced the Blue Tango. The waltz was demonstrated , by four couples. Then the meeting was taken over by the guardians, Mrs. Sally Tucker and Mrs. Laura Farnsworth. Mrs. Tucker discussed Price, Utah Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Stevenson, Lynn and Clive and Dennis Beam-so- n motored to Salt Lake City Saturday and back Sunday. Dennis went in to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Bearnson. Mr. Bearonson is in the LDS hospital recovering from a mine injury. The Stevensons visited with the Bearnsons and their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Stevenson, Jr., and Terri Lee. Mrs. Edna Graham and Nancy spent the week end in Salt Lake. They went in for some shopping and were dinner guests Friday evening at the home of their daughter and sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Christensen. They returned Saturday evening.
