Show Highlights in the News About Rains The painters have completed the lower end of Rains camp and will be finished this week on the rest of the houses. Johnny Causer and William Holdaway of Price are the men painting the camp and the houses are very attractive. iMrs. Martha Hampton of Price visited all last week with the Alfred Kilgore family here. Mrs. Hampton Is Mary Kilgores mother. The Vaughn Gulls drove to Sanpete county last Sunday, and purchased a 1952 custom Ford. Thursday, Vaughns brother, Bert Gull, who has served twelve months In Korea with the Army and Vaughns mother, Mrs, Gull of Fairview came to Rains to visit far a few days. Bert was right on the front lines in Korea and he reports the States look very good to him. It is nice to have Emma home again after the bad luck she had in New Mexico. Dora Van Natta entertained the Finnochle club at her home Wednesday evening with Rowena Day as an extra guest. Prizes were won by Jeffie Dalton, high and Virginia Lewis, second with traveling prize going to Rowena Day. John Dorick, general manager at of the Coal company in Rains was a 'business visitor Thursday of last week. Elmo Wycherley drove to Salt Lake City, Thursday to get his wife, Marion, who spent the past week consulting with doctors in the city. Alfred Kilgore accompanied Elmo. Bingo was enjoyed by the guests and pinnochle with pinno-ch- le prizes won by Terry Winstead high, Jeffie Dalton second and Virginia Lewis, booby. Louise Svetich won the drawing prize. Flo Christensen went to Salt Lake City Saturday to consult with a doctor. Sunday school was held Sunday with LaVell Miller and wife, Rita, of Castle Gate and Pearl Gardner of Helper in charge. Local Union No. 7288 held a union meeting Sunday at Rains with (President Harry iMangus in charge. New members were initiated Sunday. The Robert Van Nattas drove to Talmage Sunday to visit the Mural Donohue family. Mural Donohue returned home with the Van Nattas to visit for a while. Wayne Day and Tex Thom each have a broken finger received at their work in the Day Coal mine. Carbon Band Invited To Long Beach Review The Carbon county high school band has been invited to participate in the 12th All Western Band review scheduled to take place at Long Beach, California, November 29, it was announced today. The review annually brings together the top marching bands from 11 western states. drum Nearly 700 majors and majorettes will lead an estimated 7000 musicians in paa stirring and colorful rade through downtown Long . Beach. More than half a million people lined the 22 block parade route last year and a capacity crowd is expected again this year. Newest feature of the .particular event will be the addition of a field contest to b6 held on the morning of the parade at Long Beach Memorial Stadium. It is an entirely separate contest and participation is optional. The 'best drilled strutters in nine classifications will receive trophies. Entries in the 1952 review will be limited to 75 bands. They will compete for a total of 27 trophies, including a Sweepstakes Perpetual .trophy won last year by Bonham Brothers Boys band of San Diego. Last years grand prize winner was the Marine Corps band from Camp Pendleton, California.
