Show THE Page Eight They Need Your Help Health and Sanitation Short Course Points Out Potential Water Hazards Tne ihelath and sanitation Short course held recently at Carbon College brought out several very interesting points for the people of Carbon county to consider. C. N. Stutz and Lynn Hatcher, sanitary engineers of the Utah State Board of Health, pointed out various potential hazards for the people of Carbon county due to the unsanitary conditions which exist along the Prloe river, and which are a potential hazard for the water supply of this area. Dr. W, Whitney Smith of the USAC urged chrolimation of the water systems of this area pointing out that the present system is a hazard which may cause disaster unless chlorination is a part of the regular water supply system for the Price and Helper areas. At the Saturday morning session, the closing session of the school. Dr. Aaron Jones, Carbon college president, summarized the short course and asked the participants if they oared to go on record concerning several problems which had been pointed out at the course. The group went on record as favoring the organization of a sanitary district, which would embrace all the populated area of the Price river for the purpose of correcting the unsanitary conditions which are evident. The group also went on record of favoring a revival of the planning boards of the cities of Price and Helper. It was also suggested that the group write to the legislative council, which at the present time is considering laws to make state action avarble on river pollution problems, and encourage them to take action on this type of legislation Those attending the short course were very enthusiastic concerning the problems pointed out by the experts from the State Board of Health and the USAC attending this short course. They were unanimous In feeling that action rihould be taken. It Is anticipated that from this short course civic groups and other civic minded people of the communities will take the problems of the area to their respective city councils, county commissioners, and others, and encourage action along this line; Two films entitled, Pipeline to the Clouds, concerning drinking Thursday, April 24,' 1952 fl7 mrij m jinnniwji jJ&iropa W...rn-O- 9 mm AS, United States 7 '"" vrz J A JI0tH N v m .'i.-- n j4 7; J 9.. The Womens Auxiliary of the Farm Bureau would like to register a protest against using our road sides as a public dumping ground. Perhaps it has never occurred to the townspeople that rural folks enjoy traveling over a road with clean uncluttered road sides as well as urbanites enjoy well cared for streets. Our scenery may not be very beautiful but at least it looks many times better when free from tin cans, old Christmas trees and old cartons which clutter the country side. As this is the time of year for spring cleaning we think it a good time to urge people to leave their garbage at the public dumping grounds where it will be disposed S-- Womens Auxiliary of the Farm Bureau Mrs. Juanita Pollock, President Eight girls and nine boys were bom during the week of April at the hospital In Price to the following mothers: Mrs. Warren Pendley, Drager-togirl; Mrs. Mark Tratos, 10-- City-Coun- 17 ty n, Dra-gerto- n, boy; Mrs. Reynold C.
