Some 250 new workmen many of whom left outlying defense installations for a job with the United States Steel corporation subsidiary are now busily engaged in cleaning up the former Kaiser Parts corporation facility at Ironton. Geneva has a lease on the K-- F property. The Kaiser interests had designated the one-tim- e Joliet, Illinois, blast furnace which was moved there during World War II as Mary, in honor of Henry J. Kaisers mother. However, Geneva has dubbed the facility its No. 2 Ironton blast furnace. The addition of 250 workers to pay rolls of the steel company brings to nearly 7000 the number of employees of the firm in Utah (That figure includes employees of Genevas affiliates, such as Columbia Iron Mining company and Columbia Coal company. And it lengthens the lead of the steel firm as the largest employer in the state. H. B. Makin, who is supervisor at the Ironton No. 1 plant, will head both operations at the Utah Valley facility.
