To start the day, a miniature parade in the morning down Main street was the feature attraction. Most church organizations of the stake had entries indicative of the pioneer spirit and settling of this area by the early Mormon pioneers. A special program was presented at the city park following the parade, with childrens activities one of the highlights. In the evening a dance was arranged under the lights at the city park tennis courts. Of particular interest were the old time dances and pioneer costumes worn by many of the participants. Well remembered by a great many Price people were the July 4th and 24th celebrations here, with parades, sports, ball games, fireworks and orators and all that goes with these great occasions. It is quite satisfying to know they have not been abandoned, and that there are still organizations willing to give the kids (and the oldsters) a e excitement and fladay with all the vor in the best pioneer tradition. old-tim- ' Governor J. Bracken Lee, former mayor of Price, Ka3 been very much in the limelight, nationally. Drew Pearson, noted columnist and radio commentator, stated recently that top leaders in the Republican party are giving serious consideration to appointment of Governor Lee as Republican national chairman. In an issue of the Saturday Evening Post two weeks ago, Bracks views on federal grants-in-ai- d (money supplied by the federal government to be matched by states) were given favorable editorial mention. The governor questioned this policy in a talk before a western states governors conference at Colorado Springs. t -- . rV A. v .nvHt fp,. s: V ,'T YJ f ij' j fl m, ra, I . ' J7if v,. The Legion started the western event in 1937, and sponsored the rodeos every year since, except 1942, due to wartime conditions. The Robbers Roost Roundup has become favorably known all over the country for its excellent show and efficient organization. It is probably the best promotional event of Eastern Utah. Wholehearted support should be given in this area. Lets go western for the roundup during the next three days. AN ORGANIZATION IS NEEDED Business leaders in Price are strongly in favor of a commerce organization, if opinion of those attending a recent meeting to study such an organization, is any indication. The importance of a unified group to exert its influence is well demonstrated by the $150,000,000 air engineering center proposed at Green River. Weber county interests are out fighting to get it and Northern Utah groups are pushing for a site near Tooele. Nobody is apparently interested for Green River. Such a gigantic establishment would be of immense value to Price and all of Eastern Utah. Roads need continuous promotion, especially right now with Denver and Western Colorado for the first time back of Highway 50-- 6 improvement. And there are dozens of local problems that come up which makes a strong commercial organization a must for this community.
