Show Page Eight THE Hershey Sees Draft Call For Early Summer or Late Fall Major General Lewis B. Hershey, director of Selective Service, said recently in Indianapolis that it may be necessary to resume the draft in late summer or fall. Hershey spoke at Indiana Uni versitys annual School of Medicine Alumni Day and declared that the future of the draft depends upon the international sit uation and success of the armed services recruiting drives. Hershey promised that young men with flat feet will not be left out of a possible third World War. He explained: "Physicians who examine the draftees for any future conflict wont have time to worry about flat feet or a dozen or so other physical impairments. The Selective Service director told the doctors that they will have to work fast when examining registrants at any future mobilization and continued: Time will count and you will have to figure out some quick method of appraising the overall fitness of a draft registrant without taking time to determine if he suffers from hayfever or is color blind." ipruifyKanyon Visiting last week at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Day, was Billie Jean Carnes of Helper.
