Yeast breads, quick breads, pies, cookies, candy, casseroles and cakes were entered by 47 students and faculty members. First place student winners in the seven categories were Dani Dahlsrud, Jackie Bosshardt, Misty Stewart, Kade Wasden, Sean Hen-ri- e, Christa Mason, Trent Hone. Second place winners include K'Brina Mickelson, Launa Learning, Darryl Bosshardt, Brayden McBride, Justin Mason and McK-inzi- e Miller. Tim Jones taught students about and about peoples feelings by using his puppets. He even taught students how to throw their voice. The other assembly was San Juans pop choir and jazz band. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. McKay Wilson were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mickelsen and family of Riverton and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mickelsen of Aurora. They were all here for the blessing of Barry and Cindy Wilsons baby. Linda Kiesel and family of Redmond also attended the blessing and dinner. RueLeen Sheppard, Naomi; Peterson, Marilyn Stieger, Pauline Harward, Sylvia Barney and Billie Lou Johnson all attended the BYU Womens Conference last Thursday. The jazz band played many songs such as The Chase, Lean on Me and Endless Love. The students really enjoyed seeing and hearing them. Millie McCiff Jensen, a world famous artist, was our artist in residence. Throughout the week the classes took turns going to the library to watch her paint. She did a good job demonstrating her talent as well as explaining some of the techShe painted a niques involved. beautiful picture of some mountains. She said if you want to be a good artist, you need to practice hard. Mrs. Christensens eighth grade English class went on a field trip to the museum located at the Cedar Creek Inn to look at pictures of Saiina from a long time ago. Virginia Dickert, who has set up the museum, explained about how things were in the past One thing that the students learned was that every 4th of July, the people of Saiina got together and had a few men dress up as Indians. Then they would act like they were having a war. It was called a Sham Battle."' This was one of Salinas traditions. In days to come the students will be interviewing people in the area. By writing about the history of the Saiina area, the students are learning to preserve its history. The students who went to Disneyland went for their clogging class, The Sunshine Cloggers. It is a family from Orem that sang, danced, and talked to us about drugs. There are two girls and two boys: Jeremy, 14;Tavah, 12; Sarah, 11; and Joshua (they call him Scud)-8- . They had a lot of neat special effects and a sou.:d system that we all really enjoyed. These students received ribbons and certificates. Over-a- ll winners were: 1st in Yeast Rolls, Dani Dahlsrud; Second with Soda Cracker Pie, Misty Stewart; Third, Bran Muffins, Jackie Bosshardt. These students received cash prizes. Faculty winners were: First place, Judy Christensen, fudge; Second place, Renee Seegmiller, Wacky Cake; Third place, Joy Mickelson, Cinnamon rolls. ; programs gives honors The North Sevier High School Drama Clubs Awards Program and Competition play went off with a bang. On April 29 at 7 p.m. competition began in the auditorium. The plays actors and actresses were Rushell Holt, Heather Edwards, Becky Herbert, Kristen Anderson, Danny Wilkins, Danny Olivers and Thomas Torgersen. Director was Ray Terry. After the play the Dramatic Awards Program for 1992-9- 3 began. Awards were presented for appreciation and participation. PublicityHistorian Heather Edwards then gave her office to Kirsten Anderson. Danny Olivers became the Auditorium Manger, as Shawn Lund handed his office over. Danny Olivers turned his office as Treasurer to Thomas Torgersen. Mrs. Holt gave the S ecretaryReporter position to Stacey Mathias. The new vice president of the Drama Club is Jason Bosshardt. Tears of sadness and joy were expressed as President Rushell Holt turned her office our to new president Mara-me- e Abrams.
