Harold is not supported or financed by the Utah Education Association. Harold Prefers Career Ladder money be spent to purchase books and supplies instead of extra work and committee assignments. Career Ladder money should be retained and paid to good teachers. The teachers unions (UEA and AFT) are against merit pay. Harold believes control and decisions should be made at the school level instead of at the district and state levels. Rural Utah needs a candidate who feels good teachers should receive good pay. He does not thinkthe teachers unions and bureaucracy in the local school districts and State Office of Education should dictate how the rural schools are run. Harold feels his training and experience in finance, auditing, education and taxation will make him the best member of the State Board of Education for rural Utah. |
