Mrs. Lucille Robins, of Sandy, visiting T uesday to Friday with her parents, Virgil and Elda Christensen, and her sister, Jean Christensen. Sheri Bartholomew, of Cedar City, visited Saturday to Wednesday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Bartholomew. John is home from the hospital and is doing as good as can be expected. The posterity of the late J. Mil-to- n and Christine Hammond, held their family reunion Saturday, July 21 at Twelve Mile Canyon. There were about 50 members attending. A fun day was enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Gee and children visited Thursday through Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hammond. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Bolinder went on a short trip circling around St. George and attended a country musical concert by Don Williams and John McQuen. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Willey and son, Mellor, of Arizona, visited last Monday with Mrs. Fem Mellor. Vicki Gubler and Jordan Nielsen, Cedar City, were in Aurora recently visiting A1 and Afton Peterson. Jordan stayed over the 24th and water skied with his dad, Ked Nielsen, at Yuba Lake, where they met Kely and Patrice Nielsen, Provo, tojoininthefun. Then on the 25th, A1 and Afton took Jordan back to Cedar City. Tony and Andrew Stowe, sons of Kevin Stowe have gone home with their dad. They were here staying with their grandparents Wade and Ivanna Stowe fa- 2 weeks while their Dad was in California. Mae Peterson drove to Denver on July 23, where she met son, ClauGary and daughter-in-ladia, to go on a tour of Alaska. Chanley Christensen was home recently for the weekend from Las Vegas, where he is employed. He visited with his Mom and Dad, Neale and Judy Christensen, and other family members and friends. Scott Johnson has been in the hospital in Payson. John Hatch, son of Newel and Mary Ann Hatch, was advanced to the office of Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood in the Aurora Second Ward. A birthday wish to Ninja Utley who also turned 4 years old on J uly 13. He really is a member of the family. Boyd and Kathy Hampton received news of the birth of their first grandchild. Larry and Mindy Hampton, of Rupert, Idaho are parents of a new baby boy bom early last Monday morning. They were also here to attend the open house for Valda Hales. The Redmond As ball team has had a busy 2 weeks. The team took 6th in the Gunnison tournament and they came home with 3rd in the state tournament held in Nephi. Members of the team include: Christopher Ball, Kurt Bosshardt, Jed Willardson, Jeremy Peterson, Mike Pierce, Chad Mickelsen, Russell Chidester, Morgan Fullmer, Mark Bosshardt, Jeron Payne, Brady Lund, Pat Jensen and Adam Hales. Glen and Leslie Jensen have been visiting the Jensens before they leave for Kansas where Glen will be attending veterinary school. Lynn and Brenda Seely have recently moved to Redmond and we wish to make them feel welcome. A group of Square dancers from this area recently went to Colorado to take in some dancing. They toured interesting sights and did some fun dancing. This weekend they were in Fish Lake to attend a dance held at the Fish Lake Lodge. . 529-755- 2 The 24thof July hasalwaysbccn a big event in Redmond and this year was no exception. Under a cloudy sky a barbecue was held Monday evening with live entertainment during the meal. The thunder storm didnt hamper the fireworks held at dark, in fact it made them more interesting - it was almost as if it had been planned that way. Tuesday morning began with the selling of tickets and then the Parade, one of the best we have had. After the parade games and concessions were held at the city park. The threat of rain didnt seem to matter to anyone. The morning ended with the usual water fight, seeing many persons being thrown into the dunking pond and also the ditch. The festivities then moved down to the other park where the boys played the girls in a ball game. The arena was the site for an obstacle course and the new game cow pie derby with winners being Nikki Mickelsen and Kurt Baker. Greased pigs were caught; a greased pole was climbed; money was won by bulldogging a steer; and a tug of war was held. The evening concluded with a hay ride and a car rally. All was done very nicely and a big thanks goes to Debbie and Craig Lund and all others involved in making this celebration one of the best Becky and Jonathan Castleman have recently returned from visiting with her family in New Mexico. Katy Christensen has recently returned from spending a fun time visiting some of her grandchildren. They went to Yellowstone and saw many interesting things there. Curtis Peterson and Debra Simpson were married this weekend. A reception was held in their honor in the Redmond Ward Cultural Hall, with many friends and family members attending to with the young couple well. The Gordon Johnson family spent the weekend at the Elkhom Ranger station this past weekend attending the Lester Oyler family reunion. Partof the GreatWestem Trail was ridden on horseback and a lot of hiking and visiting also went on. horses waiting adoption at BLM office Wild Buckskin colored wild horses -an uncommon variety not often available to the public - can be adopted now through the end of July from the BLM office in Delta, Utah. According to BLMs Dave Henderson, having buckskins to adopt is a real treat because the lighter colored animals are relatively rare among the 1,900 wild horses known to roam the public range lands in the state. It just so happens that the Mountain Home Herd, where these horses came from, contain a higher percentage of buckskins. 8 of the 30 excess horses rounded up from fr. Lunch was served and there were lots of fun activities including releasing helium balloons, spinning swimming in Salina, train rides, and more. 107 family members attended. .The children of Brent and Joan Coates, Brenda, Janell, Jaden and Lindsay are proud to announce that they have a new baby sister. The new little miss weighed in at 7 pounds 1 1 ounces, and was 21 inches long. The little lady doesnt have a definite name yet, but among those making suggestions are her grandparents Cleve and Janel Coates, Gunnison, and Max and Beth Curtis, of Aurora. Many young girls in Aurora participated in the Mini-dri- ll team clinic held recently by the North Sevier High School Drill Team -the Uniques. Over 90 girls participated in the camp which was held at the North Sevier Middle School. Everyone had a good time and the did a fine job at their revue on Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Kennedy and girls went to Scipio to the 24th of July Rodeo. Visiting Jerry and Connie Hansen is Mrs. Ilene Hansen, from Arizona. Staying with Mr. and Mrs. Gleed Utley are their grandchildren, Eddie, Amayi, Sean and Tashina Hayes. Mary Ann Hatch is recuperating at home from her recent surgery. We wish her a speedy recovery. Agriculture Report Warm days, cool nights, and irrigation, contributed to good growing conditions for field crops in most areas of the state, according to the Utah Agricultural Statistics Service. Soil moisture was 93 short, and 7 adequate. Cutting of second crop hay was delayed in some areas by rain. 74 of the winter wheat acreage had ripened, compared with 77 on the same day last year and the 79 percent average. Harvest was 34 complete. Harvest of barley was 20 complete compared with 15 last year. Spring wheat was 48 ripe, compared with 38 last year and the 44 average. 48 of Utahs oat acreage had turned color. Field com averaged 48 inches. Alfalfa hay second cutting was 54 complete, versus 60 percent last year and the 45 average. Irrigation water supplies were 15 very short, 83 short, and 2 percent adequate. Non irrigated range and pasture conditions were 3 very poor, 21 poor, 68 fair, and 8 good. Range feed was quickly being reduced due to dry conditions. |
