The purpose is to impress upon Utahs boaters the importance of safe boating. Theme for this effort is Know Before You Go. More Utahns each year are choosing recreational boating as an ideal way to relax with their families and friends, said Ted Woolley, Utah Division of Parks and Recreation Boating Coordinator. It is important that all those involved in recreational boating observe proper safety practices, know and obey rules of safe boating, and show courtesy and consideration on the water. A review of fatal boating accidents show that over 23 were the fault of the operator, and less than one quarter of those operators had received any kind of boating education. In 1987, Utahs Legislature passed - and Governor Bangerter signed into law - the Boating Under the Influence statute, in recthe of dangers when alcoognition specialists are offering to evaluate farm irrigation systems, which can help farmers save on irrigation costs. Audits conducted last year showed that farmers can save as much as $30 per acre per year if they follow the recommended changes, said Robert Hill, Utah State University Extension Irrigation Specialist. The evaluations, to be conducted through the USU Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering Department and USU Extension, will look at the energy use ad water application efficiencies of a farm irrigation system. Hill said pump tests will be performed as part of the evaluation. Farmers who are interested should call the local county extension office at 896-926- 2 to schedule an evaluation. A $20 deposit will be required t reserve a slot in the reservation schedule. Take down Salma & & hol consumption is combined with boat operation. A single word, yet a true expression of how the people at the Charter Counseling Center of Central Utah feel about the community. Thank you for your support, and for the opportunity to help people in Richfield. Although our Counseling Center will no longer be present in Richfield; Charter Canyon Hospital and our affiliates are committed to providing residents with the services they need. Once again, a heart-fille- is a major factor in boating accidents and fatalities just as it is with auto incidents. It has been determined that more than 50 of the boating accidents resulting in death can be traced to alcohol use. A blood alcohol content of .08 percent is the standard in U tali for driving a car or boat under the influence. But on the water a boat operator could be a hazard at just 13 of that amount Boaters are urged to become aware of basic boating safety, and the dangers of operating a boat while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
