Chairman, LaMar Hansen and his committee extend an invitation to everyone to attend this annual Scandinavian Festival. Scan-dinvia- Local woman completes course at BYU Kathy Christensen Kimball, of Redmond, a 1978 graduate of North Sevier High School, was among 34 students from across the U.S. and Canada who were awarded Gerontology Certificates from BYU after completing course work that helps them serve the elderly. Students are required to complete 15 extra hours of courses related to the fields of aging and contribute at least 140 hours of volunteer service through agencies that serve the elderly. Kimball, a daughter of Jay and Doris Christensen, is a graduate student in recreational therapy. While attending North Sevier High, she was named the most outstanding student, most valuable athlete, most valuable basketball player, took first in the javelin throw in Region for three consecutive years, was a cheerleader and a member of the NSHS Drill Team. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Johnson Daniel and Ruth Good celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Thursday April 30lh. They were married in St. Joseph, Missouri Apnl 30th 1937. Daniel was born in Taledo, Ohio January 24, 1916 to parents Bessie Pearl Pulec and Daniel Sterling Good. They later made their home in St. Joseph. Daniel come to Mayfield in the CC Camp in 1936, where he become acquainted with Ruth. They spent their first early years of married life in St. Joseph where Daniel worked in a nursery and for Swifts Packing Plant. Building their home in Mayfield he worked for Sanpete County, and 15 years for the Forest Service. He left them to run his Auto Wrecking Salvage full time. Daniels Hobbies are hunting, fishing, trapping and reading and Ruth was born in camping. Mayfield July 17, 1919 to parents Sadie Violet Jensen and Hyrum Whitlock. Ruth worked in the Manti Sewing Plant, Rasmussen' Hardware for 6 years, part time In Valley Furniture, Charlies Closet and LeGrande Originals. She also wrote the Mayfield News for the Gunnison Valley Newspaper for several years. She is active In the LDS Church, she was a Primary Teacher for 20 vears. She served, as 2nd counselor in the Relief Society Organization and helped with the flowers for funerals for more than 40 years, at the present time she serves as visiting teacher and supervisor. Ruths hobbies include serving, quilting, embroidery, reading, yard work and cooking. Daniel and Ruth have enjoyed traveling to other states and thoughout Utah and visiting points of interest. They are the parents of 3 children Mrs. Robert (Loretta) Hunt Sunset, Utah, Leslie Good Mayfield, and Jerry Good Talorsville, Utah. They have 8 grandsons and 3 great grandsons. Graduates Camp Jarod was sent to Meridian, Mississippi, where he is now attending l school. He is training to be a dispersing clerk. Jarod is the grandson of Mr. May 7th Baby Boy 7 lbs. 13 'A ozs. The operation also assists persons presently employed to upgrade their employment by helping them find a better job. Sampson said there are several hundred job openings on file at all times at the center. The new office serves 14 stakes and 141 wards in the southern Utah area, and is one of 81 such offices throughout the church. Joe and Louise Sampson, of Richfield, have been named managers for the operation, with Rex and Beatrice Bridges, of Monroe as members of the staff. Visitors will not w ant to miss the Histone Exhibit where many extended families will be displaying histories and artifacts of their pioneer ancestors.
