Lou-Cen- The Sr. Citizens held their monthly party and dinner Thurs- day. A ham dinner was served. Food committee consisted of Mary Christensen, Nellie Christensen and Maarva Waters. Whitney Christensen showed slides of his trip to Alaska. Lester Jensen took charge of the evening. The Kitchen Band played at the Sr. Citizens Dance in Salina Thursday evening. Elder Collin Hales returned from his Mission Monday, March 17. He was met at the Salt Lake Airport by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kay Hales, and brother, Rex, of Redmond. He has served 18 months in the Peru Arequipa Mission, and six months in the Texas, San Antonio Mission. Collin and his mother visited in Loga n during the week. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Karl Hales and Collin registered for Spring quarter at USU. They visited the Ramses 1 1 exhibit, and Temple Square, and attended the Salt Lake Temple. Over the weekend the Hales family was joined by many friends and relatives for the mission report and dinner. Guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Hales, and family. The Ward Music Festival was held Friday evening. Twenty four numbers were presented to a large crowd. Four were chosen to go to the Stake Music Festival, April 3rd. Mary Christensens two sisters, Enid and Doreen spent Saturday at Marys home planning a family reunion, doing genealogy and visiting. Post Office sets new record The U.S. Postal Service handled a record 140.1 billion pieces of mail in 1985 - an average of 589 for every American - to climax the biggest growth decade in the nation's postal history. According to Salina Postmaster Arlen Madsen, the 140.1 billion total was 6.5 percent higher than the previous year. Mail volume has risen 50.3 billion pieces in the last ten years. The Postal Service daily made a possible 73.8 million city deliveries, a possible 17.4 million rural route deliveries and serviced 16.1 million post office boxes.
