Vicky Brney and family, attended tho fourth uard laal Sunday, where the Durfee'sson, Mr. Bardett Durfee was sustained aa Bishop of Monroe fourth ward. They attended a family dinner afterwards at the IXirfee home. The Family Home Evening Qub met on Monday at the home of Doris B alien to exchange their family home evening project. The dub chose new partners for their next projec, which will be on the Prophet of the Church and will meet again in six weeks. The Aurora First Ward Relief Society held their Homemaking Day on March 5th. The lesson was given by Elaine Gurr on "Being Organized." Also, a book review on a book called "Troubled River" waa given by Fern Peterson of Salina. Afterwards a luncheon waa served. Visiting with Mr. Vilate Lloyd Tuesday through Friday was her granddaughter, Kellie Welling and her twochildren, Kira and Joshua of Evanston, Wyoming. Weekend visitor with Mr. and Mrs. A1 Peterson was Afton'a sister, Lela Anderson of Murray. They all attended the Centerfield Senior Gtizen's Day dinner and dance. Home for the weekend to visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neale Christensen, was Chanley Christensen, a student at S.U.S.C, Kelly Nielsen, also a student at S.U.S.C., ahd is brother, Jordan, from Cedar City, visited with their father, Ked Nielsen, and their brother, Jason. Members of the Aurora first ward and the Aurora second ward held a temple excursion to the Manti Temple on Wednesday evening, March 5th. Approximately 68 members attended. Mr. and Mrs. Don ( JeanJNeilson received news of the birth of a grandson born to their daughter, Janice and husband, Scott J. Hecht of Billings, Montana. Nathan Scott was born on Thursday, March 6th, and has two older sisters awaiting his arrival home from the hospital. Mickie Tuft and her daughter, Amanda, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesston (Donna) Anderson, and MaRecia Freeby of Richfield enjoyed Thursday in Provo. The visited Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Dale and family, and Jesston's parents in Springville, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Anderson. Overnight visitors with the Bert Tuft family on Saturday and here to help Mickie celebrate her birthday were Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Tuft of Monroe and Rhea Tuft and daughter, Diane of Cedar City. Also joining them Saturday evening were Mickie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesston Anderson and Mickies sister, Mary Lee. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bennett and family had their daughter, Trade and one of her friends, Cherie Lott, of Orem, who are both students attending Weber State College, home over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Neale Christensen traveled to Price this past week where Judy attended Postal Meetings for the Aurora Post office. The Aurora Volunteer Fire Department held a Training Session on Saturday at the Aurora Fire Station. The sessions were given by two state fire marshalls, Lynn Borg and Brent Holladay. h the afternoon, the Fire Department held a controlled fire in which they burned down the old house just north of the Wayne Bennett home. A Pee Wee Wrestling tournament was held last Saturday in Salina. Several of Auroras boys participated in the tournament and did quite well. A large congregation was in attendance to the Missionary Farewell of Elder Shane Foote, son of Mr. and MRs. Stan Foote on Sunday, March 9th in the Aurora Monroe First Ward. Speakers for the program included all of Shanes brothers and sisters who are: Amber, Brandon, Tiffany, Trevor, Cody and Kim, and talks were also given by Shanes mother, Jackie and his father, Stan, concluding with Elder Footes remarks. Two special musical numbers were also sung, one by all of Shanes brothers and male cousins singing, "I Hope They Call Me on a Mission, and a special song sung by the Aurora First Ward Choir which was dedicated to the Foote family, called Our God is a God of Love." Several family members and friends were in attendance, which included both of Shanes grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Quist of Orem, and Mr. and out-of-to- - a.m. Rose Meadows, 9, 9 Lost Creek, their Ward Music Faalival la conjunction with their Ward Budget Thnner and Ward Teaching Open House on Seturday evening March tkh at tbs Aurora Wards Cultural Hall. Teacher from all the different organisations in the ward had display set up around the Cultural Hall. A taco dinner was served to all attending. Judge for tho Festival were: Madge Wilson and Kevin Ashby, both of Selina, and Julie Curtia of Aurora. There were twenty musical numbers which Included a number from a band, many vocal aongs, piano, violin, aecordian and bar- - Sr. By I would like to say a few words about the ILE.A.T. program. This Wednesday, March 12, Linda Ence will be at the Salina Senior Center to sign folks up that haven't done so this year. She will explain the program and answer any questions you may have; it just might be what you need. Its a good program to help In heating our homes. So if you didn't get signed up last fall, come Into the center at 12:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Mrs. Kendall aorenson, her daughter, Correen Allred, and her daughter, Moni and Nathan Hallows all traveled to Salt Lake Gty this past week, where Moni and Nathan attended acting classes. They also went to the Salt Lake hternational Airport where they picked up the Sorenson's son, Dana from his flight. Dana has been to Geveland, Ohio for the past three weeks, visiting his brother and family, Mr. and MRs. Barry Sorenson and daughter, Brittney. Barry is attending Dental School in Geveland. Dana will be visiting Aurora with family and friends before leaving for Florida where he will attend a two week summer camp for the National Guard. NEWS EVELYN KIESEL 529-735- 9 Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hardy and daughter Heather were in Provo this last week to attend the basketball tournament and visited in Salt Lake with Mr. Paul Davies and Carolyn Davies. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sheppard and Mr. and Mrs. Sharon Harward were in provo for the basketball tournament, and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shaw of Sandy, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Jensen of Salt Lake, Holly Harward of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Pingree, all of West Valley Gty. Mr. and Mrs. Art Robinson were in California last week visiting with mr. and Mrs. George Blair Peterson in Perris, California, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stone, of Riverside, California, and Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Smith of Mira Loma, California. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. McKay Mickelsen has been Bishop and Mrs. Jim Mickelsen of Riverton. Mr. and Mrs. Nyals T. Andreason returned home March 6th after a ten day vacation in Spain. They were met February 24th by their son, Jon, at Kennedy Airport, in New York, who joined them for the trip. They spent 8 days on the Spanish Riviera, Costa del Sol, in the Mediterranean Seaside city of Torremolinos. Tours were taken to Seville, Granada, Malaga, Mijas and Gibralter. The last two days were spent in the capital city of Madrid. Highlights included the Alhambra palace and fortress in Granada, built during the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries by the Moors; the cathedral at Seville, Europes largest church structure next to St. Peters in Rome; the Prado in Madrid, one of the worlds outstand- ing art museums with over 2,000 works by Spanish and foreign masters; the Royal Palace built in the 1700s with its 2,800 rooms, 3,000 by tapestries, ceilings painted and ialian masters, wall paintings beautiful gold and crystal chandeliers. The Easter dance will be held at the Salina Senior Citizen's Center Thursday, March 20th at 8 p.m. Como and have a good time and learo some new steps to the music of Redmond's Kitchen Band, the kind that makes you want to dance. Potluck will be held Thursday, March 27 at 6 p.m. A trip la planned for Saturday, March 29 to go to Capitol Reef. I you want to go, be sure to get your name on tho list. The Aurora Second Ward Cub Scouts held their monthly pack meeting on Wednesday, March 5th at the Aurora Scout Cabin. Chri Peterson gave a demonstration and talk on "Wilderneaa Survival." Jonathan Mason received his Wolf patch, Steven Rasmussen received his Bobcat patch. Joshua Newell Hales, son of Newell and Tammy Hales was given that name in church Sunday by his father. Here to be with the little feller was John Hales and girls, Elsinore, Mr. and Mrs. Russel Anderson and children, Elsinore, Mr. and Mrs. Kay Lyn Williams and family, Salina, and Mary Ellen Anderson and Bruce, Salina. Also here were Tammys parents, Mike and Kathy Lowe, and sisters, Jenny and Angie, Brigham City, Grandparents, Herman and Jean Johnson, Lewiston and Todd and Laura Johnson, Orem. Tammys brother, Jeff, was unable to attend. They enjoyed dinner at the Hales home with Tom and Jan Hales and d children and grandparents, and Maurine Hales also in attendance. Misty Payne, daughter of Craig and Jody Payne was baptized Saturday and confirmed Sunday. She was confirmed by her uncle, Gary Harrison, Aurora. Also here for the very special day was Garys wife, Tammy, and son; Tom and Peggy Harrison, Aurora; Gaudette Payne, Diana Payne, and Sandra Holdaway and family, all of Salina; Jeff and Jody Harrison and family, Payson; and Bruce and Sharri McMullian and family, Geveland. Paynes. Fred Nelson has been home for a few days with his wife JoeLane. While he was here, JoeLane celebrated a birthday with a party. Sunday JoeLane traveled to Sigurd to attend the confirmation of her grandson Stanley Brown. He was baptized Saturday by his uncle, Sheldon Brown, Salt Lake City. Sheldon also confirmed him. JoeLane was able to attend the baptism also. Spending the weekend with Merril and Fay Hampton was their son, Kevin, and his fiancee, Nancy Rich, Bear River. Burke and TerriLyn Williams and family went to Salt Lake City Friday. They visited the zoo, went to the Childrens Museum and that evening enjoyed being in the audience to watch Disney on Ice. Saturday they were in Heber City where their daughter Susan participated in the State Gymnastic Meet. On the way home, they visited Burkes brothers and their families. Continued on page 7 Meeting on grazing fee permits The State lands and forestry board will deal with the issue of annual grazing permit fees when they meet Friday, March 14, in St. George.
