George Martin, Jr., of King-maAZ, DUI; LeRoy Whipple, Illegal sale of Fireworks, July Helicopter Pilot Ted Angle received minor injuries when his helicopter crashed in the Browns Hole area in Salina Canyon. Sevier County Deputy Sheriff Tom Jensen said the accident occurred about 4 pm. Tuesday, July 10, while Angle was working on a power line project for Utah Power and Light. Jensen said the sheriffs office was notified about 7pm that evening when the Civil Air Patrol reported an ELT signal from a , '& 3rd. Jan Marshall reported that a bike left at the Salina Swimming Pool had evidently been mashed to pieces willfully. Chief Kiesel reported that a car had evidently ran up on the lawn and wrecked the bike. At the July 2nd city council meeting it was decided that it would be necessary to increase monthly sewer rates due to the necessity of moving in the direction of a replacement for the present outdated sewage treatment plant. The Council voted to increase sewer rates by 60 percent. This increase would change the present residential monthly of !5 to !8. Busings and industrial sewer rates would increase 60 percent beyond current rates. LANDMARK FALLS: This 70 year old pine tree at the old Rappley home on 2nd East and 2nd South in Salina, came tumbling down. Rasmussen Construction first removed the top half of the tree, then the remainder. All traces of the tree are now gone. The compromise agreement, which ends more than 50 years of water right controversy, allows for construction of diversion and storage facilities on Gooseberry Creek located on the upper Price River system near Fatrview lakes, for the diversion of Gooseberry Creek water to the San transmountain Pitch River in system Sanpe'e County The Price and San Pitch river basins are on opposite sides of the Wasatch Plateau in east central Utah The Price River flows generally southeast to the Green River, a tributary of the Colorado River The San Pitch flows southwest to the Sevier River The agreement provides for an annual diversion of up to 5,400 acre feet of water from storage at the proposed Narrows Project site for use m the San Pitch River System Total active storage capacity of the proposed reservoir will not exceed 14,000 acre feet Part of the agreement allows for the approval of the additional 35,000 acre feet of storage capacity in Scofield Reservoir that was added when the reservoir was rebuilt in 1946.
