Show Sports Call by Hugh Bird Wrestling At The State Finals Seven wrestlers represented North Sevier at the state wresting finals at American Fork, Feb. 26th and 27th. In the 175 pound class, Roy Ainsworth wrestled for the championship and was defeated by Callister from Monticello with a pin. Roy won his two previous matches with a pin and a decision. This was the first trip for the Wolves to the state finals in wrestling. The Wolves came out 8th from a total of 22 teams. Jimmie Crowther, Ronald Gates and Sonny Witt each won a match and lost one. Donald Gibb, Rhett Durfee and Eldon Palmer lost their two matches. The Wolves came out top team of the teams representing Region Nine. North Sevier had 14 points; Richfield 8; Nephi 2; Wayne and Monroe each had one. It was an interesting meet, with 96 wrestlers from over the state participating. Would like to have a family of seven like this, but certainly would hate to feed them. Their one breakfast consisted of the following: three eggs, large piece of ham, hash brown potatoes, two glasses of milk, side order of three and a pie alamode to finish the meal. They have to be healthy to carry it around. 3 5 Wasatch came out high team 3 5 the state, with Delta a close for 0 8 second. Uintah was top team last but were beaten by the 13.25 year, Wolves this year. In the second game, a smooth working crew from Aurora smothered Salina 3rd Aurora had 8 men in the scoring column, and 4 with double figures. Top men were Gail Madsen and Terrel Huntsman with 14 each for Aurora, and Bartley All Christensen and Keith Kimball with 14 for the losers, The Division One tournament will be held in Redmond this year, starting on March 10th.
