To help the Utah Turkey Federation move this large supply of turkeys into consumer channels, wholesale and retail meat merchants, restaurants, hotels and the United States Department of Agriculture through its Production and Marketing Administration, have all pledged k their support during the campaign. The Turkey Federation official said that the supply, many of which are this years turkeys is adequate, and sizes range from about 4 pounds up. The f quality is generally very good, and the price should be favorable, he added. As a protection to consumers and the turkey Industry generally, Mr. Prows advised the purchasing of graded turkeys. How two-wee- 8 30-Au- g. ever, he continued, If the turkeys are not graded, the consumer should select according to appearance. Best quality turkeys are plump, well finished, free of bruises and skin tears, and have few pinfeathers. Midsummer Turkey Time is another phase of the campaign sponsored by the turkey growers, said Mr. Trows. Normally, the turkey Industry brings into the state between 12 and 15 million dollars annually from distant markets where about 90 per cent of Utahs turkeys are marketed. As a tip to housewives, Mr. Prows suggested a small fryer-roastturkey weighing 4 to 9 pounds for indoor or outdoor barbecuing or frying during hot weather. Or, he added, a large turkey may toe roasted and the meat frozen for later use in salads, sandwiches, cold turkey plates and other hot weather meals. self-hel- p er pur-Gutt- h:iAv er ;' 3 con-FORT- Y here-levie- re-abo- ve r, en- ORDINANCE No. 1954-- Midsummer Turkey Time Announced By Midsummer Turkey Time, featuring a plentiful supply of Utah turkeys of all sizes, has been officially set for July 30th to August 8th, according to Dail Prows, president of the Utah of Salina City as pecified in Section II above, the date of sale or foreclosure the City Council 2nd day of of this amour Ltah, the . the owuer mav pay A.D. 1954. Phone 16-- W 190 West Main, Salina, Utah X Last January, truck driver Gomer W. Bailey (of Denver) drove up to a bridge blocked by a damaged vehicle. In the ravine 40 feet below was a wrecked automobile with two injured, screaming children inside. Their mother and father had been flung clear of the car and severely hurt. Baileyfirst set out flares to warn traffic. Then sent the kids to a hospital via a passing motorist. Next he arranged for an ambulance for their parents. By refusing to allow the mother to be moved pending arrival of medical aid, he undoubtedly saved her life, since it was later discovered her back was broken. All four are alive and well today because an alert truck driver knew what to do! The dramatic rescue, plus his safety record (1,150.000 miles without a chargeable accident!) won Bailey the trucking industrys coveted Driver of the Year award. 13-ye- ar Professional drivers are trained to guard your life.
