Gary Mason, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Mason, of Aurora, took 1st place honors. Kevin Rasmussen W ins 1st Kevin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Rasmussen, of Salina. Kevin won first place in Area F.F.A. Proficiency Award Soil and Water Management His award was won on his work for the past three years in land leveling, irrigation, concrete ditches, Garys speech was titled Americas Farmland Its Value and Importance to the World. By winning 1st place, Gary earned the right to represent the area and the North Sevier F.F.A. Chapter at the State F.F.A. Public Speaking erosion control, road construction, and other soil and water management practices He will represent the North Sevier F.F.A. Chapter at the State competition Contest held in conjunction with the State F.F.A. Convention in Salt Lake City March 30th, 31st, and April 1st. There will be 10 F.F.A. members from each of the 10 areas throughout the state attending. The winner of the State Contest will represent Utah at the National Contest held in Kansas City, Missouri this fall. D.U.P. The winners are: New Arrivals David and Linda Callioux, of Salina, are the parents of a baby son born March 7, 1977 at the Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield. I Man Dies John Daniel Crane, 76, former Salina resident, died March 21, 1977 in Fairfax, Virginia. He was born September 22, 1900 to Elias W. and Sophia Olsen Crane. If the letters and their sequence are changed in the respelling, the contestant will be disqualified. Upon missing the spelling of a word, the contestant immediately drops out of the contest. When the contestants are to two, the eliminated elimination procedure changes. At that point, when one contestant misspells a word, the other contestant shall be given an opportunity to spell the same word. If the second contestant spells that word correctly, plus the next word on the pronoun-cer- s list, then the second contestant shall be declared the winner, was unable to spell the which was word honorable, then spelled correctly by Lee Mayer. The winner of the regional contest in Richfield will go to the state finals in Salt Lake City.
