We have about 35 trailers in trailer courts and several trailer courts in the making for both temporary and A few housing. permanent weeks ago, the city employees told us the water tanks were about empty, and they tell us Southern Utah will grow two to three times in the next few years. If our city continues to grow for another year or so, we can see our culinary water in short supply during the summer months. What We ask the question, are we going to do for culinary About the only thing water? we can do is make efficient use of the irrigation water we now have and only use culinary water for the homes. Other cities and towns are putting their irrigation water in pipelines with pressure to water their lawns and gardens. They think it works real fine. If Salina can do the same, we would have enough good drinking and household water for about twice the people we now have. If the irrigation water was in pipelines, we could sprinkle all the gardens and lawns and if used properly, we could water when needed without all the weed and ditch cleaning hassle we have each year. Even the waste water problem would go away. Our preliminary survey tells us we can get the job done for about 5225,000. Our payback could come from the people who use the water depending on the size of the lots needing water. The average per lot being about 535.00 per year for 11 or 12 years. We would like to hear what the people in Salina think about this plan, or if you have a better one, we'd like to hear about it, so that the City Council can prepare and get going on a system to keep in good culinary water. The City Councilman in charge of water will be at the City Hall August 26th and 27th at 7:30 P.M. to hear about your opinions for the city's growth. If you would like to know how other cities have made out by putting their irrigation water in a pipeline, - call a friend relative in Aurora, Kanosh, or Loa. SALINA ELEMENTARY-Mill-war- d D. ('i The Attendance Policy for the District was revised and is as follows: Tentative Attendance Policy have greater Few factors influence on school success than regular attendance. Regular attendance is an important key to maximum achievement. Perhaps one of the most important understandings a student should gain is how to work and what is expected of him on the job. Obviously, a young employee will not keep a job if he is habitually absent or tardy. Seldom is a new employee given more than a few days absence before he receives a pay reduction. In fact, the student may not receive a job at all if he appears to be an attendance risk. Prospective employers contact the school office frequently regarding a students school records. Usually, their chief question (even before inquiring about the academic record) is what kind of a school attendance record does heshe have? Industry has found that there is a definite correlation between school attendance and attendance on the job. Secondary schools which have 96 attendance in any one grade will be given an oppor- tunity to plan and participate in a special field trip for that grade level. 528-312- Agl9tlc FOR SALE: home; family rm.; Ig. lot; Gunnison.
