The committee, named by Mayor Harold Peterson and the City Council, includes in addition to Chairman Stubbs, Bill Fow-le- s, H. W. Cherry, Jr., Reed Hansen and Rex Christensen. Involvement of the community was felt necessary by the Planning Board if the program was to succeed. It was agreed that a representative group be named in the four major categories, Commercial, Agriculture, Residential and Industrial. These groups, representing all facets of the community, would in turn study the program, discuss it with the general population, and bring back recommendations to the Planning Comlong-ran- ONLY m ,b LEAN & MEATY lb. ge mission. Or land Fiandson, of Salt Lake City and who recently purchased property south of Salina, adjacent to the interchange, was also present at the January 20th meeting, pointing out his beliefs in the future of Salina as a traffic hub. He also suggested property owners south of the city and along the proposed access highway would find it to their benefit if they asked the City to be annexed. Sewer and water are abso- lutely necessary to make adjacent highway property of any he said. While it value, would increase the tax burden on the annexed acres, the value of the property would far exceed the tax increase, he explained.
