On these days the Harper and Honeyville wards will be 100 years old and a day long celebration is planned that will be' well worth attending. A movie, pancake breakfast, ball games, races, side presente ation, picture display, e supper, a program pit and dance are all part of this happening. So if you are a present or past resident of either Harper of Honeyville, make it a point to be at the Honeyville church on Aug. 19 and 20 and get reacquainted with old friends and neighbors and meet a few new ones. 279-83- old-tim- bar-b-qu- Keep Chin Up Handsome Harry is not quite as handy with his horses as his horsemen it appears. At least not when it comes to giving them shots. It seems Harry Hinck was trying to do a little doctoring on one of his colts, and the animal didnt take too kindly to the needle. He let Harry know by kicking him in the chin. The result was a chinful of 50 stitches and Handsome Harry will not be as handsome for the next little Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Beecher is their son, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Beecher and family of Houston, Texas. The young adults in the stake held a rodeo recently at the Intermountain school and the members from Honeyville and Harper had quite a good showing. Placed First Becky Breitenbeker placed first in the barrel racing and pole bending events and was victorious in their greased pig fhase. Debbie Wilde took second in both of these events and came home with a greased pig also. Jerry Wilde came out on top in the bare back riding and placed second in the bull riding event with another local, Charlie Young, capturing a third place on his bull. Charlie Bingham and Allen Williams were successful in the wild cow milking which earned them top honors in that event. Jennifer Peterson is staying with her grandmother, Ruth Poore, for six weeks and is enjoying her active visit in Harper. This weeks centennial light will be the final one in the series. Our famous forefather is a well known figure in the history of this area. Born in Illinois Abraham Hunsaker was born in Illinois in 1812 and came west with the saints. He helped settle Provo valley and Carson City, Nev., where it was said he had the first threashing machine brought into the state. While he was in Provo valley some friendly Indians traded him an Indian baby boy for some food and clothing. He named the boy Lemuel and when he was 10 years old he was shot by the soldiers in Mantua. As they were leaving the Provo valley Abraham sent his son Lewis out to catch the Portage Pennings Family gathers for big reunion by Maude R. Harris Mrs. Rose H. Harris, who resides in Salt Lake City, and her entire family of 39 have gathered at the family home here for a weeks reunion. Cars, trailer houses, campers and tents have been set up as temporary living quarters for the group. Those participating are: Maxine of San Mateo, Calif., Elaine of Las Vegas, Ne., Carolyn of Belmont, Calif., Norman of Kearns; Dorraine (Ace) of Overton, Nev., and Clinton of Burbank, Calif., and their children and grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Dev ere Harris and their and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Corey Christensen of Logan returned to their homes Saturday after spending a week in Seattle, Wash., where they attended the annual National Public Service Life Insurance convention. Harris was chosen Man of the Year and received high honors and conducted all of the business meetings, presided at the banquets and other activities. Mrs. Harris was presented with an orchid corsage. son-in-la- Visit Here Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hall, sons, Bruce and Brent of Cedar City and Miss Pam Oler of Redding, Calif., visited for a few days this week with Raymonds parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Hall. Raymond spent Wednesday and Thursday in Wyoming on business while the others remained here. Friday the two Hall couples attended the wedding ceremony which united Miss Candy Bowen and Mark Miller at the Ogden LDS temple. Candy is the daughter of Don and Connie Hall Bowen and granddaughter of the Halls. They attended the dinner in honor of the couple at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Warburton of Uintah following the ceremony and the wedding reception that evening at the Uintah LDS cultural hall. Mr. and Mrs. VarC Flint and family are vacationing this week at Island Park. Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Allen of Malta, Cheryl and Janet Allen of Logan visited Sunday with their parents and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis and Wayne. 126 members of the John C. Howell family met at the park here and held a reunion Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris attended the ceremony which united their grandson, Gregory H. Harris and Miss Lisa Orton in marriage. Rites were performed at the home of the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. John V. Orton, Pocatello, Idaho, by Bishop Lynn Hall of Pocatello 16th ward. Gregory is the son of Reid Harris of Bountiful and Darlene Harris of Pocatello. Mrs. Jeanetta Udy and four children accompanied Mrs. Udys mother, Mary Emma Williams of Malad to Mackay, Idaho, where they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Varlo Price from Tuesday until Friday. George Larson and Miss Diane Moffit of Walla Walla, Wash., were the guests of Georges grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs Allen the forepart of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Allen, Troy and Lori attended the wedding reception honoring Mrs. Allens sister and her husband, Darrell and Mary Ann Call Dalrym!e at Hazelton, Idaho Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Thomas attended the VanNoy family reunion at Astoria Springs, Wyo., Saturday. Met Friend Friday Jeff Williams met his friend, Scott Hinton of Henderson Nev., at the Salt Lake City airport and brought him to the home of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. E. Wynn John where Jeff makes his home and he visited there until Thursday. Thursday Fern and Mary Hall and Pam Oler visited in Logan with Mr. and Mrs. Harol'd Cas-tleto- Mr. and Mrs. E. Wynn John attended the ceremony which united Kelly Wakley and Miss Sandy Williams in marriage at the Ogden LDS temple Friday. Mr. and Mrs. John and family also attended the reception honoring the couple at Malad that evening. Dr. and Mrs. Max Conley and family of Bountiful visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. John F. Conley. Elder Jeffrey Conley recently returned from an LDS mission in south America. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morris and Mrs. David P. Gibbs visited in Idaho Falls Thursday with Roy Merrill at the LDS hospital. He underwent major surgery last week. by Marlene M. It was assumed that the Indians killed him and Abraham never seemed to get over this. He came to Brigham City and built three of the first homes in Brigham City, one being the old Cooley hospital which still stands on Fourth South and Main. He moved to Honeyville in 1861 where he built the first saw mill. He also built the first flour mill which was located on Salt Creek. When President Lorenzo Snow made a ward out of Honeyville in 1877 he was made bishop and he remained in this position until his death in 1889. Charitable Abraham was a very charitable man, always giving of his time and money to those in need. It was said that he gave away more flour from his mill than he sold. He had five wives and 52 children and many of his still live in this area. One of his sons, Abraham Hunsaker Jr. lived on the farm in Harper now owned by Paul ts Hunsaker, spot- while. The family of Emery and Lucille Wight mer Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Pine Glen Cove up Logan canyon for a family reunion. Many local folks attended. They were Emery Wight, family head, Janice Nicholas, Dwight and Shannon Nicholas and family, Grant and Muriel Nicholas and daughter, Nancy, and Boyd and Ellen Cook and sons. Relatives traveled from Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho and Oregon. Some 104 of the 142 family members were on hand for the three day reunion. Bear Lake. Davis held a reunion at the bowery in Corinne City park, Tuesday evening. The planned potluck dinner was enjoyed by 36. They now reside in La Crescenta, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Delwin Butch Mills recently had company from San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Patricia Howells. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Luckey have had their children come to y visit, Dwight and Claudia from Burmingham, Ala., with the five grandchildren. Barbara and Boyd Rushton and family from Granger and Larry and Irene Jensen and family, with J.R. Jensen and his girlfriend Cheryl, joined a Luckey family barbecue, in honor of the Pelfurys. Miss Sherry Selman has been spending the summer months with Mrs. Axel Hassel. She has now returned to her home in Burley, Idaho. Arrived Home Les Wheatley arrived home last week after the completion of his LDS mission in Texas. Everyone was greeting him Sunday and it is good to see him home. He is a son of Faye and Zane Wheatley. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ririe and Mrs. Jon Thompson are due to come home later in the week suffering from complete exhaustion and never wanting to hear girls giggle again! The cause for this is the fact that they accompanied a group of young ladies on a camping trip into the Uintahs. They went armed with packs, sleeping bags, concentrated foods and bent on having a roaring good time. Those who went were the Misses Merrilee Coburn, Kathy Ririe, Gail Adams, Jeri Dawn and Kristine Thompson, Jean Gardner, JoAnn Rindlisbacher and Laurie Fryer. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Fryer attended the yearly supper for Box Elder county employes last Wednesday night. It was held at Peterson park. An outstanding musical program was presented featuring a group from the Utah Old Time Fiddler's association. Mr. and Mrs. Fryer also attended the yearly dinner for Bear River District Health Department at Hyrum park in Blacksmith Fork canyon this Wednesday night.
