The annual 24th celebration will be held on Saturday, July 23 this year. The annoucement was made so that all could plan on this. The 24th falls on a Sunday. Also, if anyone would be willing to help with the celebration this year they are asked to contact Neil Nelson. He would appreciate all the help that he can get, since there is an awful lot to be done to get this under way. The Golden Spike chapter of Utah Young Homemakers met Monday at the Bear River Elementary school. They were addressed by Mrs Janine Hawks on wall decorations and how to decorate walls. Refreshments were served. by Karen Christensen The Bear River City Town Board met on Thursday at the city hall. Matters that were discussed had to do mainly with the new town employes. Mayor Johnsen met with Blaine Fuhriman from the employment agency about getting someone to work in the town. Two men have been hired. They are Ralph Mortenson and Darrell Nicholaisen. Ron Hendrickson will be their supervisor. Nicholaisen will also be the dog catcher. Those dogs that are caught will be put to sleep by a veterinarian in Brigham City. There will be strict enforcement on the laws about the dogs. They must have a collar and a license or they will be considered as strays and picked Special Meeting Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Johnsen attended a special meeting in Tremonton on Sunday where they separated three wards and made a new ward. Their son, Brent, was sustained as first counselor to the new bishop. The new ward will be called the seventh ward. The new bishop is Dr. Duane Kerr and the second counselor is Glenn Curtis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Von Curtis of Harper Ward. Later that evening they attended the regular sacrament service where their son was one of the speakers. Mr. and Mrs. Norm Child have had a house full of guests these, past few weeks, and loved every minute of it! Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Child, Norms brother, was here from Arkansas for a few days. They and their family went from here to Roy and back several times while visiting. This week Louise has had some of her family staying with them. Her Nephews Richard Randolf and wife Ester and children Wanda, Sandra and Carol and Michael Randolf and wife Cecil and children John, Sheryl and Christina from Greene, Maine were here for several days. up. Other Matters Other matters that were brought up were: Mrs. Dollie Iverson met with the town board and suggested that the big post holes in front of the Coles home be filled. They could be very hazardous if someone should fall into one of Their daughter Carolyns children were there for the weekend while their parents , were away. They left for home on Tuesday. The North Box Elder county camp of DUP held its June Jubilee at the Elwood LDS cultural hall on June 14. The theme of the afternoon centered around Flag day. Eight Camps There were many outstanding numbers performed during the program by each of the eight camps that were involved. Each Jeff . . . Beecher Eagle scout D. BC youth is Eagle A Brigham City scout received his Eagle badge. Jeff D. Beecher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Denton H. Beecher received the award May 25. He resides at 1044 Beecher in Brigham City. The scout is a member of troop 222 and his scoutmaster is Howard McIntosh. His scouting achievements include patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He has served as deacons quorum president in his ward. He achieved a 3.6 grade point the past school year. Eagles celebrate summer with steak fry, dance A Summers Here celebration will be held by FOE 2919 members Saturday at 7 p.m. in the form of a steak fry. A dance will follow at 9 p.m. with the Nick Estep band providing the music. On Sunday, the state aerie will hold the annual picnic at Lagoon at the Davis pavilion. The event starts at 10 a.m. Children are invited and members should bring lunches. The state auxiliary will hold a bake sale at that time. Local auxiliary members are asked to donate a bake item. nRed Cross. LLIJ The Good Neighbor Over 30 students at Lake View school went through last school year without missing a day. They were honored on the last day of school with certificates in recognization of their achievement. Among those receiving certificates were Kevin Morgan, Brad Noles, Mike Bateman, Gary Robinette, Tracy Hatton, Mary Ann Hyer, Trevor Cefalo, Dianna Goodliffe, Kristin Brailsford, Becky Andersen, Brian Law, Robert Petersen, Cindy Christensen, Patsy Ann Wade, Todd John, Calvin Christensen, Emi Isaki, Steve Locklin, Jeff Siggard, Chris Kihlstadius, Leslie Rudell, Joni Gorman, Jamie Petersen, Amy Ashley, Stacey Kempf, Krista Hyer, Chad camp served their own members a luncheon. There was 122 members and guests that enjoyed the afternoon of festivities. Sarah Reay attended the funeral services for her brother George Bott in Brigham City on Thursday. Our condolences are sent to her at this time. Butch (Glenada) and Carter Iverson just returned home from a two weeks stay in the Denver, Colo. area. While they were there they visited with Butchs sister Neva and family. Redd and Ruth Munns just returned from a four-da- y stay in Moscow, Idaho. They were there visiting with their daughter, Carolyn and family. While they were away their other daughter Marilyn and family spent the time at their home. They remained for a few days visit after they returned home. Velma Graves from Palm Springs, Calif, spent the weekn end here with her mother, Dallin. While she was here she was the guest at the home of Lee and Tully Johnsen for dinner. Senneth Hawkes traveled to Salt Lake City where she visited with her daughter for a few days. On the way home she stopped in Ogden to visit with a friend, Janine Nessen, that just had major surgery. La-Vo- honored were Stephanie DeVree, Jerry Pierce, Greg Fredde, Sean Shiotoni and Trevin Also Campbell. Special congratulations were given to Cory Johnson who missed only two days of school during his six years at Willard. Breakfast will be served until 9:30 a.m. Junior Olympics will be held from 9 until 10:30 a.m. for the children. It will be followed at 11 a.m. by a parade. (Remember last year and what a great we had!) At noon, games of skill will be featured at the park. There will be dart games, a fish pond, parade Christensen, Brent Ellis, Jon Searle, Brad Chadwick, Roger Conlon and Joni Valesquez. sale, a quilt to buy chances on and bingo for the adults with extra good prizes, and a cake walk. Also during the afternoon will be skydivers and then supper will be served at 6 p.m. A dance will begin at 8 p.m. on the town tennis court and they will be to a live band. Everyone is invited to attend and help the residents of Perry celebrate the fourth of July. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Snow recently received news from their son and daughter-in-law- , Mr. and Mrs. Leon (Rozanna) Snow of Ogden, that they had a new little daughter living in their home. They have Angela Snow who is old and are very excited about a little sister for Steven who is almost now. Mr. and Mrs. Winston Benson of Brigham City share the honor of being the maternal grand- parents. Among Students Five young people from Perry were among the eighth grade students of the Spanish class that recently enjoyed two weeks in Mexico. Activities will begin with a talent show to be held on Satur-- 1 day evening, July 2, in the1 Perry ward cultural hall. Auditions for the talent show will be held on Wednesday June 29. The youth will audition between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. and then that evening between 6 and 7 p.m. All adults are encouraged to audition. If anyone has any questions on the talent show they should contact Mrs. Raylene Nelson at All entries for the talent show must register before Monday, June 27 with Mrs. Nelson. The talent show will begin on July 2 at 7 p.m. During the evening there will be a door Little prize given. Perry Pulse seven-years-ol- - Willard school has several students who didnt miss a day of school last year. They were presented certificates at an awards assembly. Honored for their attendance were Brenda Hoppie, Robert Lemon, Ronda Johnson, Cory Johnson, Lori Braegger, Teresa Kunzler, Annette Perry, Deborah Perry, Kristie Kae Holmes, Jennie Olson, Kimberlee Rose, Diana Baker, Kelli Jo Naylor, Deborah Zundel, Chuck It was then on Guadalajara where they stayed with their Mexican families. This was a very educational experience for each as they had the opportunity to use their Spanish and learn more of the Mexican customs. After their stay in Guadalajara they traveled to Mexico City, the last place they stayed before starting home. They were transported to and from Mexico in buses and trains. Joy Poulsen, who reported this to me stated that Mexico was sure fun, but it was good to get home. Mrs. Ellyn Sparrow has been recovering from surgery at the McKay hospital in Ogden this past week and we extend our special get well wishes to her along with many others from the community. Her family called and asked me to thank all those who had sent flowers and who had been so thoughtful to her since her surgery last Monday. We hope she is at home soon and well on the road to a complete recovery. The Perry First ward Relief society will hold their June meeting, tonight, at the Perry ward cultural hall. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with the health lesson being given by Carol Reeder. At 7:30 miniclasses on a number of interesting things will be presented. This will be the ward conference session of Relief society and all ladies of the ward are encouraged to attend. dunking machine, rummage These students didnt miss school , a' Willard students didn't miss much Duzzlng Peer River forara .s' '' June Jubilee The Three Mile Creek Daughters of Utah Pioneers joined with the other camps of the area for their June Jubilee at the Community center. They enjoyed their pot luck dinner and the program that followed. Numbers for the program from the Perry camp were Norman, Marlyn and Deana Jenks who presented a musical number entitled The Pot Belly Stove and a reading. Michal Young is spending the week visiting with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Young. Michal is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Young of North sisting with the boys during will be fathers their camp-ou- t Richard Marble, Layne Gardner, Clark Butler, Roger Mason and Doyle Hess. Scouts attending are Curtis and Steven Grow, Dale Marble, Wade Coburn, Shaun Oborn, Brian Butler, Alan Marble and Darren people attending were Maxine Gam, Cleo Denier and Margeu-rit- e Romer. Over 70 members of the class of some 80 people were in attendance with one member driving from Palm Springs, Calif., to attend. Plans are in process for the 45 reunion. Hun-sake- r. Going down the Green river can be a most exciting adven- Several families attended the Western General Dairies day at Lagoon last week. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Burbank and their children, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Marble and family and Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Zilles enjoyed the many activities during the day Wednesday. Gus Burbank was a guest of the Lowell Burbank family in Brigham City, Saturday. Grandpa Gus enjoyed dinner with this part of his family. Never a softball game comes that you dont see this special fellow armed with his chair and jacket geting ready to watch it through. He and Ben Gardner and Artel Fryer seldom miss a game and really get involved with all the teams and how they ture according to a group of young men and their leaders. Making the trip were Jay Lish, Richard Davis, Larry Litchford, Bob Gardner and Bishop Jon Thompson. The young men were David Wheatley, Bob and Doug Gardner, Bart and Kevin Gardner, Dale Colburn, Ken Kirkeby, Benny Krause, Tod Lish, Wynn Coburn and Russell Kleusner. They were gone from Thursday until Saturday. Camp Out group of Scouts are having a camping experience at Camp Bartlett in Idaho for nine days. Junior Goring, who is their leader, took the group up. As A play the game. Visiting recently with Mrs. Homer Mable were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Quinette from Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Iris Evans from Salt Lake City. The ladies are sisters of Mrs. Marble. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Potter, East Garland, and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Marble drove to Twin Falls, Idaho, to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rhodes. Home Now Mrs. Jon Thompson and Geri Dawn are at home following a trip to Mexico with members of the Spanish classes from Bear River Junior High school. They saw many interesting things and managed to survive the bus break-down- s and didnt get sick, as was the fate of some of the travelers. Dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Junior Goring, Monday evening, were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bessinger and family, Lynwood, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Bill Goring, Maxine and Mary,. Tremonton. It was a combined birthday and Fathers day ob Litchford and just enjoying seeing how happy Darlene was to receive so many presents. Mrs. Roger Mason and Mrs. J.R. Adams were general chair women for this nice event and they were assisted by several ladies in the preparation of the refreshments. Willard scouts slate movie Friday night Scout troop 215 in Willard is sponsoring a movie Friday at the Willard cultural hall at 7:30 p.m. The film will be The First Traveling Sales Lady, starring Ginger Rogers and Carol Chan-nin- Prices are $1.25 for those 12 and over, 75 cents for children 5 to 12 and children under 4 are admitted free. June 22, 1967 Congratulations to the cast and directors of the Perry ward road show who participated in the South Box Elder stake road shows. Perry was given an excellent rating by the judges. The title of the show was Papa and the Wedding Train. Lynn Maddox wrote the story and was also director, assisted by Steven Call, ward drama director. Mrs. Bill (Marge) Goring being the birthday people. Darlene Lish was excited as most new brides are at a wedding shower as she opened many much needed articles for her kitchen use, last Wedneday evening.
