Show Willard Wrap-u- p The wedding cake almost fell ? by Arlene Holden just got back from Grand Washington where we attended my niece's wedding. My kids were pretty well behaved, the bride was radiant and of course everybody cried. Shelly Ann asked me to see the punch bowl and it was over a glass of punch I got acquainted with a true soul sister. We discovered we have many things in common. The biggest similarity was brought up when the brides five tier I Coulee -- Ml .lO- - Honeyville-Harpe- r cake threatened to fall over during the picture taking tradition. The near disaster was averted by the timely grab by the mother of the bride, who only let go of the top three layers long enough for the flash bulbs. I laughed and said, Well, if thats the worst that happens, theyll have a good marriage. She laughed and told me about her wedding. Her mother got the iron too hot and scorched her dress in an unrepairable spot one hour be Hotline Blaze begins in Honeyville, firemen called by Ellen Cook You never really know or appreciate your friends and just how much you need them until some disaster strikes. Then its nice to know you can count on them being their to help. Mr. and Mrs. John James and family found this out when fire broke out in their home on Saturday. The family was away at the time and the fire, which apparently started in the basement, did quite a bit of damage. The smoke damage was extensive in the home and to the furnishings. The Honeyville fire department responded to the alarm, which was turned in by a neighbor, Paul Spackman, and put their new fire truck to good use. Fire Chief, Dennis Harper, and another volunteer fireman, Ted Chlarson entered the house and discovered the source of the flame. The smoke was so thick that air masks were needed. Brigham City fire department was called in but the fire was put out by the Honeyville department before they arrived. Water Schedule water schedule was issued to the residents of Honeyville. Those who live in the center, of- - town, should.!! water only 'on 'Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Those living south, west and north of town should do their watering on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. There will be no watering betwen the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and absolutely none on Sunday. Residents of Honeyville are also asked to note a public hearing to be held on Monday, May 16, at the Honeyville school. The meeting will begin at 8:00 p.m. with several topic to be discussed, such as a new town park, fire station and town hall to be built in the center of town. Also under discussion will be the proposed new water system to be developed. Everyone is urged to be in attendance. A new I were Mr. and Mrs. Alma Yates and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Kent and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Wheeler and family, and Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Johannson and family. Two of Harpers younger residents, Carla Yates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Yates, and Mindy Webster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Webster, were participants in a play presented for the state PTA meeting held in Smithfield. While over in Cache Valley the girls toured' USU. Barbara Begay, foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant B. Nicholas attended a Lamanite Youth conference last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in Bountiful. While at the conference she attended many meetings and workshops concerning the Lamenite youth. Attending a missionary farewell in Brigham City for Elder Kevin Richards were Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Nicholas and sons Darren, Shawn, Monte and Cody, Mrs. Janice Nicholas, E. Emergy Wight, Mr. and Mrs. Grant B. Nicholas and daughter Nancy and Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Cook and sons Jeremy and Camron. 3 ' fore the wedding party had to be at the chapel. Ten minutes later her brother slipped in the shower and cut his head. He needed six stitches to sew up the cut and her mother had to take him to the doctor while her father tried to repair the broken shower head that had come off when he tried to keep from falling. Cold Water Now only couldn't they take a shower, but they had to do it in cold water. They couldnt find the shut off valve to the house so they called a plumber and left a 'note on their way out the door. Six miles away from the church, the car blew a tire. There was the poor father in a white and blue suit trying to change a tire without getting dirty. The bride and the maid of honor finally stood out on the grass watching and crying. This is how my wedding day went. My Matron of honors hair didnt get dry at the beauty shop, but the girl combed it out anyway. It fell and I ended up doing it again 20 minutes before the ceremony. When we got to the church we discovered somebody had goofed and had scheduled my wedding for the same night as the Pine Wood Derby! So I had 50 cub scouts (in their uniforms and carrying a carved car) and their parents as unexpected guests. It ended up that the wedding and reception was in the foyer and the Cubs had the recreation hall. My uncle (who was giving me away) was so sick he could hardly stand. I was so scared and nervous and upset that I could barely walk. We were quite a pair when we walked down the aisle leaning on each other. I dont think the bishop had been asked to speak in years because he gave his entire Sunday sermon during the service. I was trying not to worry about the Scouts or the time or the refreshments or anything else, but my mind wandered far afield. Not I Do When it came my turn to make a response, I hurried my mind back just in time to hear my mouth say Oh . . .Yah. Immediately I felt elbows in my ribs from my new husband on one side and my sister on the other. - - t fX'V ji i II V Jones, Julie Tolman and Bonnie Partridge. Then he told us of a fearful situation, encountered high on an Oregon mountian . . .The shale on his cliffed ridge began to shake and give way. It sure looked a long way down. He felt his end was near. So he prayed for help. Went South A marvelous event then occurred. The earth beneath him stopped shaking. And he was able to return home safely. V BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, May 12. 1977 He was overjoyed to be surrounded by friends and family, which includes; his wife Clara, eight children and 41 grandchildren, most of them present, celebrating his very special day. His family was certainly his crowning glory. George, sharp and witty, joked about money and inflation. He started thinking of the cost of raising todays family. In the year 1918 he recalled working on Promontory for nickels. It would certainly be a burden to raise his family of 50, now on those wages. During conversations with Beard a peculiar thing would happen. George would ask his guests at different points or rather interrogate them, their views of his on portrait. Just when you were positive he must be vain and conceited, (because the large wood framed picture was very handsome and expressive) George would squint his eyes at you and say, So you like it. Well, my photographer took all my proofs to Salt Lake City and ran them through a computer. Nine times out of ten, the really computer picks the same picture you would. Then admiring his portrait he would add, Have you ever heard of such a thing? A computer picked portrait! Yes, times have changed.
