She is in all senses of the word a great Triple Combination. She has to be a good general and organizer or her house falls down around her ears, her kids become juvenile delinquents and her husband feels left out. I am not a good general. My orders to the troops are either entirely misunderstood or they fall on deaf ears. The only housekeeping organization skill I possess extends only to the cupboard where I have my spices arranged alphabetically. So last summer when Judy, Maureen and I joined our various talents to form a nutty partnership called Grandma Jams, everything went wrong. My mother, bless her heart, drove out during the weeks and took care of the little ones while the two older kids and I worked our shift at the fruit stand. But there came a day when Grandm? Mike needed a vacation and I tried out the kids as baby sitters. I ing boys. Chad Tremelling, Brian Brown, Todd Zito and Danny Ward all received their Bobcat. Steve Summers, Chuck Tremelling, Ricky Peterson and Cliff Cole all received their Athlete. The Pinewood Derby was run on an electronic track that not only picked the winner but also gave the times for each car. The boys each raced their car three times against other boys in his own age group to determine a winner. More Winners Went Great The first day went great. I came home to a clean house, happy kids and dinner (bacon and tomato sandwiches). Then the novelty wore off. The next day I came home to a half burnt-ove- r garden where , the kids had tried to burn a too full trash barrel and the neighbors had had to put out the brush fire. Son had also shot off some bottle rockets, yelled at the little girls and just generally got himself into one whale of a mess. Grandma was back the next Monday and saw us through until closing day. So at least I was assured the kids were safe. But the house was another : ) - matter. I kept my dishes done, managed to keep just barely ahead of the mounting wash, and vacuumed floors and dusted, mainly during the middle of the night. Not a wall, window or door casing saw a soapy rag the whole summer. The closets cupboards and drawers were impersonating mazes. The week after Granny had her wake, I cleaned and scrubbed from early morning until midnight. In the eight and nine year old class Chad Tremelling, Shane Chournous and Todd Zito took first, second and third. In the ten year old class Steve Summers came in first, Larry Nelson was second and Rick Peterson was third. Then the top two boys from each age group Chad Tremelling, Shane Chournous, Steve Summers and Larry Nelson participated in a run off. Four races were run with each car changing lanes for each race. The grand champion was Steve Summers when his car came in first in each event. From previous judging Brian Brown received award for the best looking. Chad Tremelling was the most original and Rick Peterson was the best craftsman. All the boys received ribbons for their participation and Steve received a trophy for his work. Ray and LaRee Crowshaw recently returned from a weekend in St. George. They visited with friends, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Ostergar, and went to church with them. A special visit was made to former Bishop Wright Farnsworth who was bishop in Osford when Ray was a scout. After returning home for a night, the Crowshaws drove to Idaho Falls to bring home mother Vinnie Hawkes who had spent a ten day visit with her niece. They much enjoyed their time with Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Hadfield. This evening (Thursday) the La-Re- Dust Bunnies I found dust bunnies as big as a fist, seven plates, 12 knives, four spoons, 19 forks, two plastic cups, the unidentified and should have been buried remains of somebodys dinner, three shirts, one blouse, two pairs of levis, three under- , shorts, and at least a dozen mismatched pairs of socks. And that was just under the couch. The next day it collapsed under the strain. I think the garbage had been holding it together. But all three husbands suffered the most from neglect. It took all of us a good month to get our companions back in line.
