(Joan) Hansen who was named state historian i at the just concluded annual Utah Young Homemakers State convention held at the Hilton Hotel in Salt Lake City Friday and Saturday. Others from this area attending the convention were Mrs. Marian Grover, Mrs. Tess Hess, Mrs. Janet Adams, Mrs. Klea Scott of Fielding, Mrs. Linda Capener and Mrs. Rosalie Siy lvester of Riverside, Mrs. Bourne of West Fielding, Mrs. JoAnn Udy, Mrs. Rosie Lamb of Plymouth and Mrs. LoReta Udy of Tremonton. Joining them for a banquet held in conjunction with the Utah State Young Farmers Friday evening were DeVere Adams and D.E. Hansen. Mrs. A1 (Ina Mae) Shapiro of Tacoma, Wash., has been spending a few days visiting her mother Mrs. Lovinnie Holt. Mrs. Shapiro had been to Virginia Beach, Va., assisting her son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Clare Upton and their family in moving to Bountiful to make their home. Friday Mrs. Upion and Mrs. Holt spent the day visiting Mrs. Viola Stokes and Mrs. LaRee Whitney and other relatives in Ogden. Miss Cindy Petersen of Logan spent the weekend visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Donald Petersen and family. Saturday visitors at the home of Mrs. Alene Sutherland were ,Mr. and Mrs. .Walter Sutherland (of Ogden! Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Rose! Zundel, Mr. and Mrs. Wynn Zundel and son Rod accompanied by Doyle Cutler and Mrs. Darlene Hurd and son Steve of Snowville, Mrs. Carla Woolsey of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Marsha Iverson and children of Elwood attended the state meet at the USU in Logan Saturday where Rod participated. He placed third in his age group. Mr. and Mrs. Rosel Zundel also visited Mrs. Zundels sister Mrs. Leona Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Richards were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Max Anderson in Bothwell Thursday evening. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Eli Anderson of Bothwell. The occasion was Mrs. Eli (Carol) Andersons birthday anniversary. one-on-o- Friday Guests Friday guests at the home of Mrs. Rachel Burton were Mrs. Norman Petersen and daughter Lesa of Bountiful and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Crane and son Matthew of Herriman. Spending the weekend at the Burton home were Miss Norma Burton of Salt Lake City and Miss Maurine Burton of Laketown. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tros-et- h attended a greenhouse grower's convention held at the Utah Power and Light Building in Salt Lake City Friday. The program was sponsored by the Utah State university and several speakers discussed ways to conserve energy in greenhouses, etc. Mrs. Alene Sutherland accompanied Mrs. Linda Thompson of Tremonton to Brigham City Friday where they visited Mrs. Sutherlands sister Mrs. Edna Farrell. The Social Development club met at the home of Mrs. Irene Peck Friday afternoon with Mrs. Ruby Farnsworth as hostess. Mrs. Faye McMurdie, Mrs. Doris Christensen and Mrs. Irene Peck favored with several trios accompanied by Mrs. JoAnn Mecham at the piano. Mrs. Esther Coombs gave a review of the book "A House Full Of Love by Marjorie Housepiar. Mr. and Mi. E.C. Mason accompanied by their daughter Mrs. Dale Hansen and son Brian and daughter Jana Leigh enjoyed a dinner party at the Idle Isle cafe in Brigham City Thursday. Visiting Mrs. Flo Munson and Mrs. Elma Petersen last Wednesday was their cousin Fred H. Pack and his wife of Paul, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Udy and son Brett spent Friday in Salt Lake City. Miss Stacy Udy accompanied them home and spent the weekend visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Wynn Zundel and son Rod accompanied by Mrs. Darlene Hurd and son Steve of Snowville attended th Wrestling meet with Bear River High vs. Bonneville High in Ogden Thursday evening. Kurt Zundel was one of the participants. Family Gathering Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Verl Udy, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Udy and family, Mrs. Kayla Phelps attended a family gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Udy and family in Tremonton. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Watson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Udy and family of Tremonton. The occasion was the birthday anniversaries of Verlene Watson, Karen Udy and Stacy Udy. Cake and ice cream were enjoyed. Mrs. LaDene Zundel spent. Monday and Tuesday in Salt Lake City attending a Western Region Farm Bureau convenc tion held at the Hotel. Mrs. Zundel is state director for the Northern Box Elder district of the Farm Bureau. Mrs. Carol Edwards of Logan Wednesday honoring Miss Slei-ec- a Christensen. A luncheon was served to 24 guests. Games were played followed by a social. Miss Christensen was the recipient of lovely and useful gifts. She will become the bride of Grating Garret on Feb. 18. Mrs. Esta Pierson accompanied by her friend Mrs. Shirley Watson of Tremonton spent Wednesday in Centerville visiting Mrs. Gayle Brough. The three ladies enjoyed shopping in Salt Lake and sight-seeinCity afterwhich they returned to the Brough home for a tasty luncheon. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hess and family spent Sunday in Ogden visiting Mrs. Lavonia Hess and Mr. and Mrs. DeVere Hess. The party was held at the home of Bishop and Mrs. Gary Rose. Wednesday Mrs. Doris Smith accompanied by Mrs. LaDean Benson of Tremonton enjoyed dinner at the Grand View restaurant in Logan. Douglas and Sharon Anderson Rytting of Santa Rosa, Calif, announce the arrival of a baby girl born Feb. 1. They have a daughter Sherrie and two sons Jeffrey and Michael at home. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Verl Anderson of Fielding and Mr. and Mrs. R.O. Rytting of Logan. Great grandparents are Patriarch and Mrs. Leo Earl of Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Pam Kent) Mellon left Thursday for Washington to visit Bills parents Mr. and Mrs. William L. Mellon in Graham. They also planned to visit relatives and friends in Walla Walla enroute to Graham. Thursday evening Mrs. Dan Kent and daughter Colleen visited Mr. and Mrs. Dale Thomas and family in Brigham City. Farewell for sister in Sunday The Ezra Harper family of West Corinne will be sending daughter, Cherri off on a mission to Chilly New York. Sister Cherri Harper will be honored at a farewell in the Corinne Second ward at 7:45 p.m. Sunday. She will enter the mission home Feb. 26. Her mission headquarters will be in Rochester, New York. Cherri is a graduate of Box Elder High school where she was active in drama. She is also a creative costume seamstress and has attended Ricks college. The Harper family invites all friends and relatives to attend the meeting and an open house Sunday from 3 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at their residence. Friday Mr. and Mrs. Glade tended the basketball game with University BYU. of Utah vs. Nolan Olsen was the guest speaker at the Garland chapel Sunday evening for the Special Interest group. He told briefly the history of the Logan temple and related interesting experiences that had happened there. A large group attended. Won Records Mr. and Mrs. David Nye attended the activity Stab In The Night at the USU in Logan Friday. They won two records in the dancing contest. They were overnight guests of Miss Sheri Schwartz. Ralph Evans a student at Weber State college in Ogden spent the weekend visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ray Evans and family. Mrs. Jennie Gephart and Mrs. Hazel Rose enjoyed dinner in Ogden Tuesday following a temple session. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Don Limb Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. John A. Evans of Malad and Mr. and Mrs. Gail Boam and daughter Linda of Downey, Idaho. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Evans and family. Visiting Mrs. Ruth Atkinson and family Friday were her mother Mrs. Lyle Hess of Malad and her sis ter Mrs. Julie Barber and children of Samaria. Mrs. Dale Atkinson Young and children Tracy, Troy and Todd enjoyed Sunday dinner with Mrs. Atkinsons parents Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Hess of Malad. The occasion was Mrs. Atkinsons birthday anniversary. They were joined by other family members. Mrs. Joyce Smith of Salt Lake City visitied her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ramon Drake Saturday evening. Miss Florence Richards of Kaysville visited her mother Mrs. Mildred Richards during the weekend. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Ramon Drake were dinner guests of their son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Alton Drake in Bountiful. They attended sacrament meeting where the Alton Drake family presented the program. The small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Moss Jr. of Salt Lake City was blessed by her grandfather Lee Tarbet in the Garland Second ward sacrament meeting Sunday and given the name of Jennifer Alicia Moss. Following the meeting a family dinner party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Tarbet. Others attending in addition to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Moss Jr. and family were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Moss Sr. of Layton, Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Tarbet Jr. and son Shane of Sandy, Mrs. Elaine Hilderman and Mrs. Maude Tarbet of Garland. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Morris Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Morris of Portage, Mr. and Mrs. Don Thorson and family of Brigham City, Mr. and Mrs. Thayne Hupp and family of Hansel Valley, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Yarman and family of Clearfield. Class of '62 af DE seeks classmates The committee for the reunion for the class of 1962 is attempting to locate class members. Stoddard and presented with a Sustained Superior Performance award for $200. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Forsberg and son Mel attended a greenhouse growers convention held at the Utah Power and Light company building in Salt Lake City Friday. Daryl Adams entered the University Medical center in Salt Lake City Monday for a routine check-up- . He will remain there for several days. Visiting Mrs. Alene Sutherland Sunday were her sisters Mrs. Lucille Cottle of Ogden and Mrs. Edna Farrell of Brigham City. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Earl and daughter Chelsey, Clinton Earl of Logan and Linena Johnson of Smithfield visited Mr. and Mrs. G. Emerson Earl Sunday. Then you may want to attend a series of four landscape classes to be taught by Harold G. Lindsay, Utah State University extention agent, in Tremonton. The classes will begin Thursday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. in the First Ward church, 166 North Tremont. There is no registration charge. Anyone may attend who is interested in landscaping. They had their little new daughter blessed by her grandfather Dallas Stokes of Bothwell in the Garland First ward sacrament meeting. She was given the name of Nichole Wood. Timothy were overnight guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Max Flinders in Ogden caring for the children while Max and his wife attended a LDS seminary and institute meeting at the church office in Salt Lake City. Saturday they drove to Salt Lake City and visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Timothy and at- you want. One session will include ideas on how to plant the trees and shrubs correctly so they will live. Instruction will also be given on planting lawns and keeping weeds out. Those interested in attending are asked to call the extension office in Tremonton ) or Brigham City to register since they can only take so many.
